Indian passport renewal

Hi, has anyone managed to renew their Indian passport using the Tatkal service recently?

I was wondering how long it would take.

I have renewed my wife’s through VFS Manchester on 6 Sep but at the appointment they said it may take longer as she has requested her UK address to be printed in her passport - I’m wondering what extra checks this involves as I can’t find an answer online.

We need to travel asap due to the poor health of an immediate family member - we have submitted a covering letter explaining the emergency along with letters from the hospital in India to support our request.
