Indian Passport Renewal Timelines

Hi all,

Please can you advise regarding following queries?

1. According to Indian embassy (London) website it takes 7 working days to renew passport if it is going to be expired in a year. Is this timeline correct? What I came to know from this forum that processing can take between 7-8 weeks.

2. I believe there is appointment system to renew passports now. So is it correct to assume that I just need to take appointment and NOT need to go there at 6 am to stand in queue!!!

3. If I have to travel for business purpose and same can be confirmed by company on letter head, can this be considered to issue emergency passport?
