Info required after coming to UK on HSMP visa

Hi,

I am not sure if this topic would be relevant here. but since it is related to HSMP visa holders, I am posting it here.

I wish to know if:

People who are working in UK on HSMP visa, can they and their spouse be entitled to free health benefits provided by the government?

For eg: I am on a work permit visa in Finland, and have a social security number. I entitled to certain free health checkups.

I understand HSMP visa holders also need to apply for National ID once they reach UK. Once this ID is obtained, are the dependents entitled to health care benefits and what are they?

Any help on this greatly appreciated as this would determine my decision of when to coming to UK.

Once you are here, providing that you and your family have the correct entry clearance, you can all use the NHS.

You need to define what you mean with "free health benefits". If you mean that free health service form governmnet (NHS) the answer is yes, HSMP holders and all dependants are entitle to use health service from the government (NHS) for free.

Ya you and your dependents can avail of medical facilities after getting registered with NHS. You will also be eligible for free medical check-ups (if situation warrants) and prescription medicines.

Prescription medicines are not free

Prescribed medicines are free for some people (there is a long list, but the most relevant ones to HSMP holders and their dependants are likely to be under 16s, under 19s in full-time education, and women who are pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months). There is also a standard charge, no matter what the medicine itself actually costs.

Thanks for your responses. So does this mean that maternity services like monthly check-ups, ultrasound and basic tests are also provided?
