Interview Call/Interview Wavier

Post by indiaone » Wed Jul 20, 2005 3:01 pm

Hi,

Would appreciate if you can give your feeback on this:

I had applied to CHC for Immigration on June 2004. In total i have 70 points under my belt out of 67. My only issue is that i have scored 6.5 in IELTS with 7 in Listening, 7 in Writing, 6 in Speaking and 5.5 in Reading.

Everybody tells me that there is no need to re-appear as i qualify for immigration with 70 points. My only concern is that are their any chances of getting interview calls due to my IELTS Scores or i can get interview waiver too.
I am interested in Interview Wavier as it will save lot of my time.
I have 4 years of work-ex in IBM and is post graduate( by correspondence) in Master in Human Resource Development(M.H.R.M).

Please suggest what should i do?? Should i re-appear for IELTS or leave it??

I score you as:

Listening – 4
Writing – 4
Speaking – 2
Reading – 2

Total = 12 points (your avg is irrelevant)

Interview waiver is primarily based on the visa officer having no doubts about claimed points and submitted documentation in support of this. Hence if you prepared your application properly with all required documents then it may be possible but such is not a guarantee. Likewise working for a multinational company (MNC) lends some credibility to your application in respect of qualifications, work experience, income and language skills. Also details can be easily verified from MNC’s through various Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) channels. Even then an interview can be required for quality control purposes – CIC lift a percentage of files randomly for this. On the positive side such QC check cases are I understand typically placed at the front of the interview line.

The maximum score if you retake the IELTS is 16 pushing your total to 76 points. Conversely you may get a lower IELTS mark than you previously did. Note that the visa officer will verify your ILETS results and in doing so will consider the latest score they have on their records - based on the new IELTS test results your application may be jeopardised. IMHO it is better to gain further language points in French and leave things as they are with the English results. However the decision is yours to take. In summary an interview waiver is not guaranteed for any applicant.

I hope that helps
