Invalid app. due to missing document and what to do after

I think I am too late to visit this forum. I would not be in the situation that I am at now if I went through information here.

I applied tier 1 general last year, when I forgot to submit together my police registration certificate. I didn't notice it until I received my application pack back form the border agency which stated that my application is invalid since I didn't have my PRC submitted. They stated I had no ground for an appeal as it's my mistake. I can reapply but they will treat it as a new application.

The problem is, I passed my 30th birthday during this period, and I score 10 points less and hence I no longer have enough point now, making reapplication meaningless.

My employer helps me to contact the border agency. They told us that we could write letters directly to the officer who handle my case and ask for a review for the decision. We are working on that right now.

Does anybody have opinion on my situation?
