Ireland: Work Permit Categories

Post by mattei999 » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:26 pm

Does anyone know how strick DETE is about the exlcluded work permit categories, particualrly "Clerical & Administrative" positions? This seems a bit broad.

I work for an Irish bank in the US and am seeking a transfer to Dublin. Because it will be an 'administrative' role (though it deals with commercial lending and I've worked with them for a number of months), I'm a bit worried about whether they will process it. The job title is "Loan Administrator".

Any thoughts about this and what my odds are? I know there has been a lot of talk about a shortage of employment, particulalry in Financial Services...

I have a 4-year degree (BSC in Finance / Management) from a top US University, and I studied for one year at TCD. I don't know if the education background will help my cause at all. I'd like to pursue a Master's (perhaps in Ireland) but not right out of University.

Thanks for your help.
