That depends on whether you need a visa to travel to Ireland.

If you are from a visa-required nation, then you cannot travel to Ireland without one.

I still don’t understand your issue though. There are a LOT of law firms along the border. Quite a few of them practise in both ROI and NI. Have you contacted any?

A quick Google search on ‘Newry Dundalk solicitor’ returned a number of firms who have offices in both cities and practise in both jurisdictions.

They said "The Witness must be resident in the State and the Declaration must be administered / witnessed in the State.not in NI (uk) i emailed them and they said witness from the State.

I don’t understand what the problem is. Have you actually contacted any solicitor along the border before you posted your question here? Any firm with offices on both sides of the border should be able to give you someone with an ROI address.

Hi All,

Just wondering has anyone received a naturalisation Certificate in the last week or today ?

I have submitted my affidavit on 1 Feb.. no update so far and I have sent many mails ..no reply 🙄

Please do an update here.

Many Thanks 🙏

After repeated emails they replied me back saying they haven't received the payment which I had send back in Jan 2020, even though they had acknowledged the receipt of it that time. Now I'm in the process of paying again online.
Few of my friends had send the documents in first week of Feb and they already received the certificate. So keep on emailing them till you get a reply.
After numerious mails, today got a reply from citizenship dept. asking to send Passport Biometric page in PDF format (i have sent passport doc in registered post in Feb (god know what happen to it  ) and mailed them in Jpeg format few times :? , which they don't like i guess). so in coming days they will issue cetificate (let's Hope)

Finally... Received the certificate this morning :D
Hopefully you will get it soon as well. Thanks everyone for the help throughout this journey.

Virtual ceremony? Can anyone please explain what this is, I thought they're only doing affidavits and no physical or online ceremonies? What is this about?

Thanks a lot for sharing! I received my certificate last week and there was no mention of virtual ceremony. Good to know that I should expect a link in my inbox :)

Congrats!

I got my approval in Oct 2019 and I submitted my bank draft, pics, IRP, signed & witnessed affidavit on the 8th of March 2021. I haven't heard back from the dept despite writing to them. A waiting game, alas!

Is this virtual ceremony essential?

No. You are an Irish citizen from the day you got your naturalisation certificate. The virtual ceremony is purely for ceremonial purposes and has no legal effect.

(In contrast, a live ceremony pre-pandemic is legally binding and applicants must attend it to be recognised as an Irish citizen.)

I have already got my certificate of naturalisation and may not be able to attend this virtual ceremony because I would be @ work at 7pm on the 27th April. If there is no legal implications I better not to attend. What is your take on this.

Can we say once you get the cert you can apply for passport without waiting for the ceremony?

Yes you can apply passport online but do not send documents as they are only processing emergency apps till level 4

Heya,

In a bit of a conundrum here and would appreciate any help/advice/pointers.

Its been 7 weeks and I haven't received the cert of naturalisation yet. I've written to them and have not heard back from the department. I wrote to the minister ccing them earlier today.

Is there anything I can do? I find this incredibly odd. I know that it was received a day after I sent it compliments of an post tracking.

Incredibly weird how there's absolutely no response from the department! Of course, the automatic response has to read "You should note that sending repeat emails simply adds to the burden of staff and will inevitably delay a response to your particular query." only to later read "Given the volume of e-mails we are currently experiencing Citizenship Division will not be in a position to respond to any query in relation to an approved application for a certificate of naturalisation or an invitation to the next citizenship ceremony. "

Oy vey!

A quick question, how do you guys get digital photo?

I can't find anywhere open for that.

I went to photo booth, printed photo out and use the phone take a picture of it.

It doesn't seem to be perfect....

Thank you!

Namaskar :)

I can’t even begin to imagine what you must be going through- here I am complaining about not receiving it after 7 weeks and goodness me.. you’ve been waiting for a whole 5 weeks more!

Is there anything that can be done about this? Surely they’ve read the emails, etc. I cant understand what’s up. Wonder if its because we submitted a bank draft vs paying online, etc. Wrong of me to assume but I wonder if you submitted a bank draft vs going digital?

I also can’t help but wonder if anyone submitted a bank draft recently and got their naturalization cert.

That's true, it's been nearly 3 months and no sign of Certificate yet.

i have sent my 950 DD through post in Oct 2020. i guess they have started taking online payments recently (may be from Feb/March). even if that's the case they can't abandoned the old approved applicaiton

i feel sometimes need to change my user name from luckyfish (as there is no luck with INIS :? ) Waitiing continues ......

they specifically said not to scan the photo. Many Photoshops are open. please google and give them a call. take USB drive with you or they can email it as well.

Good luck
