I'm assuming that they don't return the GNIB/IRP card once we send it in?
If you need to travel shortly thereafter, not having received the certificate, What do people do?

Do you have to apply for it? and if you hold a passport that doesn't require a visa to enter Ireland is it necessary?

In that case you can simply travel to Ireland without visa. Just remember to bring a copy of your approval letter or naturalisation certificate.

If you don't have irp card or certificate and you want to travel you need to apply for stamp6

That's for people with passports that require a visa on entry.

There's no relation between Stamp 6 and nationality, visa or entry requirement. A Stamp 6 simply certifies that the holder of the current non-Irish passport is an Irish national. Simple as that.

Stamp 6 is becoming increasingly obsolete, similar to EU2 certificate, which nobody cares about these days. Until they can implement the IRP card for Stamp 6 holders (which INIS promised years ago), it is completely useless.

A Stamp 6 *helps* visa officers expedite a re-entry visa application (as they will have known the person is an Irish national by virtue of the stamp instead of having to conduct other checks), and *helps* immigration officers determine whether the person can enter Ireland without any other conditions. It is not mandatory to have the Stamp 6 before applying for a re-entry visa or entering Ireland.

A person is free to enter Ireland on any valid passport or EU National ID, provided that the immigration officer is satisfied that the person has met the entry requirement. For those who produce a non-Irish passport, as long as they can prove their Irish nationality (e.g. a copy of FBR or naturalisation certificate), and the immigration officer is convinced that the document is genuine, they will let the person in. Airlines don't care about the stamp either. They only recognise a valid passport (non-visa required nationals) or a visa.

If the IRP card for Stamp 6 holders does get implemented some time in the future, they may make it a mandatory requirement for dual citizens to use that card for travel purposes when using a non-Irish passport, but for now, the Stamp 6 doesn't do anything.

In the letter we receive it says; It will take up to 8 weeks from receipt of the above documents (they mean the IRP card, deceleration of fidelity etc... sent by post) to issue of a Certificate of Naturalisation if all in order.

April 9 to date is 5 weeks only and I guess you are still in the normal timeframe inside 8 weeks period.

Hi guys I am seeking help if anyone could ?

I got a letter for the declaration of Fidelity to the nation and for the Payment of 950 euros on 8th May.
I paid the fee and submitted the passport and Gnib copy along with the Photograph online and got the confirmation email about the payment.

The problem that I have now is that I have stuck in abroad ( Nepal ) due to lockdown and could not fly until further notice.

I have to sign the declaration form with the solicitor in Dublin which is not possible and the form has to be submitted in 2 weeks' time (time limit).
It will be a great help if anyone can suggest to me :

1)To find out or to locate the declaration form that I was not able to get online
2) is it ok if I get signed the declaration form with the solicitors in Nepal and post it to Ireland?

Any suggestions would be a great help.
Thank you guys

Hi,
I have one simple query.

My IRP card is due to expire in 5 weeks and if I don't receive the Naturalization Certificate before the IRP expiry date. Do I need to renew my IRP card again before the IRP expiry date?

Please suggest

I submitted my signed affidavit beginning of February and still didn't hear back anything from the department. It's been over 15 weeks now but no one can hold them accountable for such a significant delay. The timeline provided in the email with my affidavit stated up to 6 weeks.
Both my solicitor and I followed up with the department but they don't care to respond. I'll be approaching my TD as well but don't really believe it will help. They can just ignore it the same way the ignored all previous communication on this matter.
