An approval letter and GNIB expiry

Post by mohamedzarog » Wed Jan 15, 2020 5:43 pm

I got an approval letter for Irish citizenship on 08/01/20. They asked to submit €950 and the GNIB card if wish to be included in the next ceremony which is taking place on 02/03/20. Unfortunately, my GNIB will expire on the 06/02. Should I send it without renewal?

You should seek for clarity by emailing the citizenship department and also trying to give GNIB a call. In the past, the department always asks the applicant to have a valid status on the date of ceremony, but in some rare situations they were also fine with the applicant having just a few days gap.

You can send your GNIB card even if you have few days left on it. I was in the same situation. There is no need to renew it.Hope you will get you invitation soon.

Hi Mohamed,

When did you originally apply for naturalisation?
