For parents who think they are waiting for a very long time, I applied my child for naturalization in June 2018 and we are still waiting.

For the last query to the office, we got an only response that during Covid-19 everything is super slow, be patient.

Now, this waiting will cost me thousands of euro every year, as we are starting to pay for college and Free Fees option, of course, is not available for non-Irish children.

Hi alexkiran, we are on the same boat. It's very ridiculous, family members of EU migrants who was issued with a residence card bearing the title 4EUFam can get free tuition fee for college. But I am not sure about family members(non EEA) of Irish citizen. Are you Irish citizen if you don't mind to let me know?

Yes, I'm an Irish citizen, as well as, my wife. Child of naturalized Irish parent can get only Stamp 4 (not 4EUFam). Free fees are allowed for holders of stamp 4EUFam (not regular Stamp 4). That is really weird and unfair. That system discriminates on naturalized Irish citizens for some reason.

Yes, Alex is absolutely right.
They use "Covid-19" for any reason and everywhere.
It is disgusting... And ridiculous, indeed.
Finally, I got email today from them.
Absolutely useless.
They just do not want to provide any Naturalisation Certificate to the children (and me and my wife are already Irish through Naturalisation from November, 2019!!!
It is absolutely nonsense!!!
I do not have words...
I just thought this morning how many people paid 950 euros for second stage and still waiting through Naturalisation process their oath which is I am sure would never appear as it was before in the big hall
for 2000-3000 people in it!!!
Canada already provided oath online for people.
But we have what we have...
It is ridiculous!!!

Received this yesterday.

Thank you for your email.

We note the passports were returned to you. Due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 healthcare crisis, unprecedented delays are occurring in the issuing of acknowledgment receipts and reference numbers. We are working very hard to maintain as prompt a service delivery as possible, under the circumstances. Unfortunately we are unable to give you a timeline but I can assure you the matter will be dealt with as soon as circumstances allow. Your continued patience in this matter is appreciated.

It shows how many child apply per year and how many get certificate per year.
So they get 1480 application in 2019 and issue 898 approvals in 2019

Hi All,
Have seen quite a few posts on the delay in processing for children. Wanted to check if any body has sent the documents for their child in the last few months and received the passports & acknowledgement back?

In my case have send the documents for my daughter in last week of June and have not received the passports/acknowledgement yet. Any suggestions please.

It took about 3 weeks to get passport and acknowledgment in August 2019. However when I applied for my 2nd child in February this year it took about a month. I suppose it’s the current circumstances due to COVID which are delaying all the process. I would suggest email them to enquire.

You mean they only send certificates to kids when they print adult certificates? If that's what you mean the how would you know that they've printed adult certificates?

If you just look at the past posts in the forum, kids get the certificate near the ceremony.

Good. But do they get receipt and reference number before ceremony too?

I applied for my children in first week of February 2020. I just got this email reply today. I am not expecting any personal original document to be returned. This appear to be copy and paste?

Thank you for your email. I can confirm the applications listed for your children below have been received by this office. Please be advised that applications for naturalisation and general queries are currently being dealt with in chronological order. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 Pandemic and the attendant requirement to comply with public health guidelines, significant delays are being experienced in general processing, particularly those functions which require a staff presence in the office. We are working very hard to
maintain as prompt a service delivery as possible, under the circumstances. Unfortunately we are unable to give you a timeline as to when your documentation will be returned but I can assure you the matter will be dealt with as soon as circumstances allow. As you can appreciate, the primary responsibility of this office has to be the welfare of the general public and the health and safety of staff members. Your continued patience in this matter is appreciated.

I am an Irish citizen through naturalisation.

We have a newborn child, does our child gets Irish citizenship automatically? We have birth certificate only.

Thanks
