please write to your local TD and get the pressure on !! otherwise forget about it
My kids applied in February 2020, saw some people said it has to be 2 years before I can complain about taking long to make decision? Also someone said if they refuse parent application they will automatically refuse my minors applications too, not sure if this is true. I and my kids applied the same day, they received our applications same day too.

That is not true ! Minors applications are dealt by a different team and the criteria are different. Also its doesn't matter if its less then two year minors application shouldn't be taking longer.

Please write to your local TD and also senator Ivana Bacik.

Yes Andy email her but same time do email to your local TD and also a TD in a opposition party.
They seems taking way too long for minor application treating them like adult is totally unfair and unjust ! I wouldn’t be surprised they might be checking criminals record for minors as they are brainless and lazy !!

To all in this forum waiting for their children’s application either new or old please email to your local TD to ask the minister the cause to the delay for minor applications !! Keep the pressure.
Yhea, Ali, I did wrote emails to all of them 4 days ago.
They did not answer to me.
May be they are very busy with massive amount of emails...
But today I received new email from Tipperary Minor Citizen ship Section:
"""Dear Parents

Thank you for your email.

I can confirm that the Division has engaged in concentrated effort to
process and complete all cases that remain outstanding for a considerable
period of time. Please be assured that we will revert immediately once a
decision has been reached on the application. Your patience in this matter
is appreciated.

I think you are right they just are starting their game on new rules!!!

Can I just ask this, what exactly will I ask Ivana Bacik to do to the citizenship regarding my children's delay application ? To plea on my children's behalf or?

I got my minors FOI request decision today and I still did not understand. Below is the content. I will have to contact my solicitor:

Your request sought - Copy of my child’s Citizenship file

Decision

A final decision was made on your request by a HEO in this Department. I am sorry to inform you that we cannot locate the records and that I must therefore refuse your request. This decision is made under section 15(1)(a) of the Act. Section 15(1)(a) of the Act states that an FOI request may be refused if: "the record concerned does not exist or cannot be found after all reasonable steps to ascertain its whereabouts have been taken"

1. Rights of Review In the event that you are not happy with this decision you may seek a review of this decision by writing to the Freedom of Information Unit, foi@justice.ie seeking an internal review of the matter and referring to or enclosing a copy of this letter. You should submit this within 4 weeks from the date of this notification, where a day is defined as a working day excluding the weekend and public holidays.....

What could be the reason? Or they lost my minors application and documents?

Hey,

Very sad news that such things could even happen.
Do you have any communication from them regarding your child’s application acceptance?
I mean the receipt and acknowledgment letter with the application number...
Try to request the FOI review with attached evidence that the application was accepted,
this should point them out in the right direction of searching...

Yes I received acknowledgement letter through my solicitor. Also I have email replies from citizenship about my minors application enquiries.. So I am still in shock that they said no records found about my minors application. Am I satisfied they have not lost my minors files? Sad

Hi guys ,

A friend of mine sent citz application for his 5 years old daughter, last year . It’s been 6 months and he is still waiting for acknowledgment letter and the return of his own and daughter’s original passports, is this normal these days ?
He wrote to the department few times but getting nothing more then the standard reply saying that due to COVID they will return the original passports only if there is a medical emergency.
Has anyone waiting this long just for their passports to be sent back to them and the acknowledgment letter ?
Any idea guys ? My friend is quite stressed out .

Thank you all

Johnpromise that is very very concerning!!! You need to do some action as soon as possible!!

to all who are still waiting for their minor application!

Please send your email to your local TD and also send the copy of that email to minister of children , minister of justice (direct email) and office of the Taoiseach.

But it won’t make difference if one do it We all need to do it bring this to the attention of all those !
I have sent email to my local TD and justice minister , I can say there has been some progress !

So either you sit and be patience or take some productive action that’s is to raise your voice !

It’s seems those in the office are been ignoring minor applications!

Please I request you to send email to the above mentioned!
In one of my email i have told the justice minister that there are many who are suffering with their minor application, and her secretary came back said that is not correct they are working on all cases !

So if you all send email atleast there will be some action trust me!!

Thanks Ali112. Do you know the email address of the office of the Taoiseach? Also, do you think the citizenship will feel offended that applicant reported them to their colleagues, and don't you feel that the citizenship might punish such applicant by delaying the applicant's citizenship application for a number of years or even refuse the applicant's citizenship application on the ground that citizenship is a privilege not a right anyway?

Regarding your question about if the department get offended ! i think its a wrong way of thinking and to my own personal experience it doesn't i got naturalized back in 2016 and my case was straight forward but was delayed until my local TD intervened.

I am not saying write an abusive email :-) but just write an email to know why this delay is caused on straight forward cases for minors !! if we keep quiet believe me this will go months or years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Coming to your point of privilege !!!! many of those Minors were born here ! like my child and currently myself and his mom both are naturalized citizen !! and i was told by a good barrister it is privilege for me and possible for you but for those who were born here it a different story.

Yes someone from their office will come back to you and usually they will reach out internally to the department to check that for you.
Also do send it to your local TD as well and believe me in my own case my local TD was very active and she pushed it so hard that I got approval in week time.

So looks like you have proof that they had your documents - which BTW contain sensitive information. Perhaps it is time to get Data Protection Commissioner involved to help find your records...

Sent mail to minister for justice but minister of state acknowledged it. I didn't even send mail to minister of state. Is this a normal thing?
Yes someone from their office will come back to you and usually they will reach out internally to the department to check that for you.
Also do send it to your local TD as well and believe me in my own case my local TD was very active and she pushed it so hard that I got approval in week time.
It's unbelievable, got a mail from TD that they replied that they have sent letters out last week for some of my children's apicatiom and they will issue the remaining letters shortly.. But I noticed that date the date they stated that the letters were sent out is just two days before I contacted TD. I suspect a cover up even though I am not sure. I still spoke to my solicitor today and they never received any letter that they claim they issued out last week. Never the less, I'm glad it's progressing. Fingers crossed.. Thank you so much quote=Ali112, you've been helpful here.
