so you don't think these approvals go for September but rather for June? I mean they didn't announce the June one even. I'd defo need June for travel purposes, hope they let me know about it asap.
I know there’s a June ceremony because a senior INIS officer asked me to choose between the April ceremony and this one (my girlfriend had some accessibility issues back then and we didn’t know whether we could make the April ceremony). They also mentioned the June ceremony is to cater for some abnormal applicants (e.g. those with accessibility issues and those who have waited for too long).

As you have waited for a very long time, I guess it’s quite likely you will be included in this one. Good luck!

Thank you. I can feel for you, believe me. I’ve called them every week, wrote two TDS, requested foi file, talked to the solicitor. They just do it slow for some applications without any obvious system. People who came with me to the country have already became citizens two years ago. We just have Irish luck

I have consulted a solicitor yesterday , let's see how it goes . The system is a bit unfair but we can just wait and see.

Hello everyone, my wife applied for Irish naturalisation in June 2017 , as the spouse of an Irish (from Northern Ireland) and after almost 2 years we got her citizenship approval letter this morning. What a long drawn out journey, hopefully everyone gets sorted with their own applications soon, good luck.

Thanks for the update. I applied December 2017. So I strongly believe I should be getting mine too soon hopefully. This process is very frustrating. :D

I applied in May 2017 and till date no decision! I got a letter dated the 14th of May 2019! Stating my application is at an advanced stage of processing and I will hear from them in due course! After series of letters posted to INIS.

This is certainly not fair the waiting time alone is frustrating and is alright giving me anxiety!

Can anyone tell me when a decision can be made when your application is at an advanced stage? Pls

Unfortunately not. "Advanced stage" doesn't mean a decision will be made in any specific time frame.

There were 2,240 people who applied in 2017 still waiting as at May 2019 (out of 11,800 total applications) - so at least you are not alone. In the data I've collected from this forum, around 7% of applications get approved after waiting more than 2 years. I only know of 2 applications that were approved after waiting over 3 years.

Most approvals are sent out around 4-6 weeks before a citizenship ceremony. This year, there are big ceremonies in September and December. So, if you are going to be approved, it's most likely that you'd receive approval in late August or early November.

Thanks 🙏 Makem I really do appreciate!
I just received a reply to my email now telling me the same thing!

Your application is currently at an advanced stage of processing! While it’s not possible to give a specific time frame for a decision, this office will be in touch with you once a decision has been reached!

That’s a good news actually. At least they have finished all checks on your application, and your application is now waiting to be signed off.
It means you just have to wait patiently for this to happen.

I have a friend, who got his approval within 6 months and had his ceremony on April 29th 2019 now an IRISH Citizen, told me not to disturb them with phone calls and emails or even letters, that that can provoke or frustrate any person in charge. And that might show that am desperate to get the citizenship.
So I should limit the number of times I get in touch with office with phone calls or emails?
Can this cause a delay on my application once they notice how desperate I am?
Anyone with needed on information on this. Could this be true?
I just dont want to do anything that will jeopardize all my efforts after waiting for almost 2 years.
Anyone with suggested update on this or what I should do?

That is utter nonsense.

The person who updates you over the phone/email is just a customer services agent. They don't have any influences over your application. I called them almost every week between January and April. I got my approval without any issue.

(I heard that they don't even record any phone calls but I cannot confirm whether it's true.)

Every application has a processing team and a caseworker. The caseworker is the main person that prepares for your file. Once everything is in order, they send it to their supervisor for sign-off, and then submit it to the minister (with a recommended outcome I'd guess).

I rang them from April 2018 until April 2019, continuously every other week haha I wouldnt worry about that, to be honest.

Thanks guys for those responses.
I think am relieved and I will give them a call tomorrow again.
The process is just frustrating. A friend also send me a message to say his sister got approval last week and she was told to pay the €950. That means she might be included in this month's unconfirmed small ceremony.
Also as I was told, she applied October last year.
