same here waiting since april 2017. even went through the barrister to get FOI etc. But still same stupid reply. And I think its mainly applications from pakistan. There must be something we can do. so frustrating to see people who applied in 2019 get theirs. Very Very UNFAIR :( :( :( :(
When you got the FOI back what checks had been completed? There is a checklist that should be part of your file, and it helps you to see what has been done. Did you get that? If so, what had been ticked?

I emailed them & also got the same reply "Your application continues to be processed". Its so frustrating as people who applied even in 2019, are getting approval/invitation letters. I applied in January 2017 & still waiting. Does anybody on the forum here, has any advice for all of us?
...
If DOJ cannot do background checks in reasonable time then they shouldn't have Garda, internal, external agencies. All departments work for Gov but they have no shame whatsoever when they write same copy pasted reply.
...
I'm not defending INIS, because they are bureaucratic and inefficient. My application got 'stuck' and delayed for a long period because one page of my file got missed. But, they are reliant on other agencies, including agencies in other countries. The key is to work out where your file is stuck, and try to remove any blocks. FOI is a free and easy first step. Contacting TDs and getting Dail questions asked is another.

Nothing had been done tbh. The only thing ticked was when passport went and check on docs. then file sitting there for over 18 months with nothing at all done. Which is a shambles. God only knows how they work but its getting so so frustrating at this stage. If they dont want to give then they should just say so rather then leave people in limbo like this.

Any body got an approval from team 7 ?!

The team number does not make any difference. All inquiries go to a random team for processing.
I got my approval from team 7.

Have a look at my post here. Which questions are blank on the checklist? In my (admittedly limited) experience, the blank question pointed me to what the issue was - as the officer had not been able to find the information to complete the question.

Hello Guys,
Please how can I request for personal data under FOI?
Am getting more and more frustrated on the issue of this application.
I need to know what exactly is going with my application.
I have emailed and made several phone calls to them about this application no fruitful outcome.
The last letter I got in February 2019, after several letters, emails and phone calls, says, they dont need anything from me and that they will get in touch me as soon as decision has been reached.
I applied since Dec. 2017. I have met with the TD in my area. He sent correspondence severally same old lovely response.
The most annoying part is, I have up to 4 to 5 friends who applied this year and last year got their approval and 3 of them is already Irish citizen.
Please help on what next to do on this issue. How to request for my personal data under FOI. Is that going to have any impact on my application?
Do I need to use a Lawyer or go through TD or do that myself. I am in a state of dilemma.
Anyone with suggestions please? :( :( :(

It's really, really easy. Complete this form.

The only bit that's not completely self-explanatory is "I request the following records: " What I wrote there was: "ALL PERSONAL RECORDS HELD BY THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE AND EQUALITY REGARDING [my full name], DOB [my date of birth], SPECIFICALLY IN RELATION TO IMMIGRATION, RESIDENCY AND CITIZENSHIP MATTERS. FOR EASE OF IDENTIFICATION, MY REFERENCE NUMBER IS [ref #].

Scan the form (or take a photo). Take a photo of your existing passport (as proof of identification). Send them to the email address on the form.

No, it won't have any impact on your application (except perhaps a positive impact if you find out and fix the reason it's held up).

I did it myself. I can't see any reason to use a lawyer.

I sympathize to those waiting. I myself applied in July 2017 and received my approval at the end of June. Then this delay happened. If not this ceremony I assume you will be amongst the next one

I to was surprised when I seen 2018 and 2019 applicants getting approved.

Hi guys,

What I suggest is lets contact some of the journalist, reporters who covered Citizenship issue recently..
If at least 5-6 people email those people They will put on their newspaper.
Imagine a topic like " Citizenship applicants cannot leave Ireland for a year" made a huge noise. Now if we push and tell them our story ( even anonymously) It will be a great topic to cover for them.\
I believe we have 2 option, MEDIA or Judicial Review.

Meanwhile I write myself to journalists and ask them to put this topic on their newspaper.
However we we all together do it It will make a difference. I need your help on this guys....

Lets acts together.

I did it myself in Jul and got FOI on my application everything is done, garda report and every check has been done in Aug 2018, just one box is left that is sign of an officer for submission. I contacted solicitor as well he said clearly everything is already done. He sent them a letter and mentioned that all the work has been done in Aug 2018 so why delay on my application but unfortunately Because of Jones case they got an excuse and said it will be submitted to the Minister as soon as the issue resolved but clearly mentioned as well that it is a privilege not the right and bla bla. When I sent them an email after the date announced got the same reply to be submitted to the Minister which I got in May 2019. What can be done now? I don’t think so FOI is making any difference.

You can go to court, there was a post on forum that it helped to gain the citizenship but costed 3.5K for legal expenses.

I applied in October 2017 and my application is at final stage since April 2018. I am wondering who else is on the same boat? I know there is a 2016 topic but didnt want to mix it with 2017 applications and want to have an idea of numbers...
My advice to you keep sending email to Department of justice because sometimes they throw your all files somewhere in office and they don’t give a shit about it. If you don’t a Solicitor get one. Because one of my friend appleid 2016 he received the second Stage later after two months that year. But he was waiting three years for any other later. He was really upset until two months ago. He got a Solicitor and also sending email to Department of Justice and finally they send for him Approval later. He received his Approval later the second of December of this year.
