Hi Everyone,

I've been stalking these threads for some time but seems we all have similar stories here:

EU 5 year residency applicant

Applied in mid October 2017
Received Acknowledgment of application Oct 2017
Sent off passport and fee received letter back with receipt.
Have had a couple of letters. April 2018 similar to here not stating the stage, at the time I thought this was second stage. Whenever I have emailed. I just get the generic response we are all familiar with.
In October 2018 I received the 'real' second stage letter.
Hoping that I will be told the outcome soon and can go to the next ceremony in April/May time!

Good luck to everyone waiting and fingers crossed for us all.

Have been waiting for almost 2 years
Applied in March 2017

No letters received to ask for any documents or additional information.

Simply very time I ring no news
They sent my second stage letter in September,
Not sure if I should even try to understand the process, but it’s about time that someone will take them to court and get this system improved in a way or another .

The surprising fact is that no one on this forum have suggested a solution that proved to work .

Good luck for all of us.

The response we had was via email. We are not banking on a result happening anytime soon, probably a result of some sort within this year, the whole process is a joke..
An email can be used as a proof in the court.. Just an FYI.

Agreed.. Only problems, but no solutions..

The rule is, if you don't speak, you don't get.
We are all spectators and nobody is trying to find a solution to this annoying problem.

Applications are taking ridiculous amounts of time, and nobody seems to care.
Even if citizenship is not your right, but a privilege, it s unfair to keep you deprived of this privilege for no reason and no fault of your own.

Did anybody try to call citizenship phone line recently? I wonder what are the rumors/news regarding the next ceremony or has anybody got any status update where he/she move from one stage to the other? Knowing the historical patterns, not expecting from the department to start sending approvals before mid/late February but maybe by now, they have started to prepare/submit applications to the Minister...
I will try my luck tomorrow by calling INIS tomorrow.

Was able to get through now and lady on the phone just said that my application is being prepared to be sent to the minister and as soon as a decision is reached, they will inform me. Guess I just have to wait until February now. I’d speculate that the fourth quarter of 2017 applications are being sent to the minister now for decisions according to that link someone posted in another topic showing they still have over 2.000 aplications from 2017.

The same story for me as well, being prepared for submission and will be sent to Minister soon. I guess that big pile of files is still lying somewhere and not catching anybody's attention yet. I assume, in a month time or so they might spend a few hours or a day work to send the selected files to Minister. Till now they are still recovering from lengthy Christmas and new year break...

I asked that I didn’t get any second stage letter i got first stage letter in march 2018
Then she told your application has crossed second stage and is on final stage. I asked about the ceremony but she said she has no clue about next ceremony.. just hope after wait for 2 years will get approval this year soon🤞🏻

By the look of things you should receive your second stage letter soon.

I think after Second Stage comes the final stage I.e submission to the minister. So you should stay hopeful for the next ceremony.
Plus if a letter says that the application has been moved to the second stage, it means it s on second stage I.e character checks etc.

My application based on Irish association from Northern Ireland. I didn’t get second stage letter yet they just told me my application has crossed second stage over the phone on Thursday. And soon they will send it to minister in next batch.😄

hi the letter which you got in Jan 2018 in which they says your application passed initial stage and processed to second stage it was a actual second stage letter , so you already got your second stage latter in Jan 18 but after second stage letter they took too long to proceed your application from Jan 2018 up now did they ever asking you more documents or any other clarification?
so Good luck

Rang again today for the craic and was told that once ceremony date is decided they will start sending letters out. However, mine’s still on the line for submission to the minister.

Been calling INIS on ‭+353 (62) 32 500‬ as I’m calling from outside Ireland,to check the status of wife’s application and the phone rings and rings then call gets cancelled or number busy you ring back then same again, what a disgrace you can’t get speaking to anyone.

Eventually got through to the INIS.. they said my wife’s application is still being processed and will go through a final check and that apparently there is a Brexit backlog, probably another year before we get any result, 1 year and 7 months later and still nothing the whole process has been a joke.

Hi mufc69,

I think best way will be writing a letter to under Freedem of Information. In this way they are obliged to give you information what is happening with your case.

I am starting to hear more and more cases where people are request,ng information on their File. Under the Act of FOI we are entitled to request this.

Check this link: blog/forum/discussion website link removed by moderator

I am planning to write a letter to INIS requesting information on my case.

I wouldn’t waste my time to be quite honest. We’ve been waiting over 1 year and 7 months and many people on here are getting their approvals within months.. I don’t know if it’s a filtering process depending on which country the applicant is from (my wife’s from Philippines), EU family seem to be getting approvals the fastest from what I’ve seen on timelines, I’m also applying from Northern Ireland and I don’t know if that’s against us either.

Actually EUFAM applicants are waiting more according to people on this website.
I am an EUFAM as well. And it is almost 2 years.

Holding a case more than 1 year is not normal. 2 years definitely not where most of the people get approvals or responds within 6 months or less than 1 year.

In my opinion if they think that your marriage is a marriage of convenience/sham. They will let you the wait a lot.
I really dont understand how INIS works. I have met people who have criminal record, people with extreme islamist idea ( Sympathiser of extremist groups) etc.
Those people get approval quickly with no issue but We have to wait!!!!
I really dont understand the system in this country.

The only think that I know complaining on this website is not helping us. We have to fight for our right. We have move ourself. Sitting here and just complaining wont get us to anywhere....
