To those who are asking, what will happen after this petition. I ask you:
What happens after an organised protest?
Around 2000 taxis gathered in the City Centre the other day to protest (from Merrion Square to BallyFermot).. What will happen after that?
Having seen such irresponsible questions, I have started ignoring all criticism and am not replying all such comments here.
Protesting is everyone's right, no matter in what shape or form it is in. Injustice will still remain injustice regardless of how people protest. This petition is also a form of a protest against the unjustified delays from the govt.
Hey 5121472,

First of all thank you for starting the petition. We all see how many people signed it, we all know it is very important for us. Thank you!

I think it is reasonable to ask what happens next after so many people signed the petition? What are the next step? I have doubts that the Minister and/or people in the citizenship department even know about the petition. So it makes sense to think how to attract their attention. What do you think we should do next?

Thank you

Cut the bravado for God's sake.
It does matter in which way protests are conducted. You're in civilized country, you've got to know when to stop to avoid looking ridiculous.

Nobody cares if you ignore criticism on here. It is your right to ignore it.
Citizenship is however, a privilege, not a right. Like it or not.

Exactly. It is you.
A lot of what you've said in the last few posts is nothing but emotional garbage and accusations without any reliable back-up, source of reference.

Your motives and frustration with delay are understandable. Get back to the point if you at least want to look credible.

If you read earlier posts and comments, there is data to support this and this is evident from the figures published by INIS. Do some research please, before throwing comments, arguments and criticism.
We started 3 petitions with the 2 different government bodies on different matters and we got a response in all 3 of them. Many people here appreciated the fact that you started a petition, but the description you had in the petition deviates the point that you want people to resonate. A petition (especially to a Government body) should have 1 and only 1 purpose. If your intention is to ask them to get a citizenship ceremony moving, you would have to remove the bits about injustice and slowness among certain nationalities. Otherwise, how do you expect the TD's to debate the issue in the Dáil? If you have watched any Dáil or UK parliament debate, you will see that each topic is a very refined and restricted topic. They in many cases require different set of people to present data, proofs or even testify. They won't even bother discussing anything that's multifaceted. You have to attack one side at a time.

Then, you can't say 'there is data to support this' or 'this is evident from the figures published by INIS', without showing this data and figures to people. How can you expect the Dáil to respond if the petition does go through? Many empathetic TD's will be more than happy to start a debate in the Dáil, but you have to give them figures to support your view point.

If you are going down the systemic bias route, you would have to present convincing data. We used to have a contributor @markem here who makes visualised data, for example, this post. This is a simple task - all you need is data from reputable sources or from individual surveys or response collections, like what he did here. That graph would quickly tell people that 32% did not get a decision after a year. You can get a few examples from those whose applications were delayed (e.g. contact them for a redacted copy of FOI) to prove that certain nationals' applications are 'more likely to' getting delayed for no good reason.

Ireland is not one of the best countries when it comes to government transparency (RTE report), and the citizenship department is one of the worst area. There are many cases where people's applications get stuck for no reason, but I haven't yet been able to see any evidence on systemic bias against a certain group of people. You either have to prove your point, or take that bit out of your petition, otherwise the government will be quick enough to dismiss the petition.

Personally speaking I thought the petition was meant to get a ceremony going ASAP because that’s what we want in the end of the day. So if we can all get to the point and fix the petition so it states we would like a ceremony ASAP that would be recognised faster. Plus this thread was meant for the next ceremony anything else should be put in other relevant threads as it’s confusing when you see new posts and it’s all off topic. Just my thoughts.

Totally agree @anongirl. That was my point.

Happy to see some sane voices here otherwise '5121472' has taken the forum for a hostage. I got put off seeing the petition written with conjectures such as 'some nationalities are being delayed for no reason'. Background check is a critical part of naturalization application and you are asked to supply last 9 years of your addresses for a reason. Immigration office has every right to follow the set rules irrespective of the time it takes and for some countries it might take more. Precisely for this reason i did not sign the petition as the wordings appeared to me more of a personal grudge than an appeal for a ceremony. I totally echo what 'Vorona' pointed out that citizenship is a privilege and not a right, and that's true with most of the countries granting citizenships.

A person lives here for 5 years, pays his taxes and has a clean record. That should be enough of a proof that he is of a good character and not a serial killer who kill stay quiet for 5 years and only start killing again after exactly 5 years. All applications were being approved in 6 months before the last Minister came. There was no concern about information being shared by some countries. It's all rubbish I'm afraid. I think some people here just want to increase the number of their comments and that's why they ask illogical questions that they can answer for themselves. Whatever, keep trying and good luck!
Your comments only make us stronger :D
And
We'll keep ignoring them wherever we can...
bro

I kindly request you to ignore all provoke comments. every person in the world thinks of himself. have reached a good point with the petition. normally see people who don't like it.

please not dealing with those people who are trying to provoke you to get into a quarrel.
