Dear All,
Would anyone explain what is the meaning of advanced stage in the citizenship application. Since 3 months and whenever I ask about my application I am told is at advanced stage. I am keen to know what does that mean and how long it could stay in this stage.
When did you apply @syjem? Also did you receive the letter stating that your application has been initially processed and it is moving to the second stage of processing? Did you apply as EUFAM? I'm sure your approval will be sent to you soon.

Last week they said that I will get update via post next week. No letter yet. So I rang twice today, First Lady told me that my application is in the final process and I should not worry. The second time the lady on other phone line took my phone number and said they will ring me...is it usual to happen like this and had it happened to anyone? What does it mean? Seniors can you help please. My worry is that I am planning to travel for one week from 11/10 to 19/10. Should I book flights and in the mean time if they ask for GNIB could I be able to enter into country without GNIB?

Finally after 2 year and 10 days of waiting, I got the approval.

Best of luck everyone. I pray that all of you get your approval soon.

Hi guys, just signed up in the forum. Waiting since December 2016. Called last Thursday she said I’ll be hearing from the office shortly, everything looks fine. When I enquiried if I still am on stage 2 she said I moved up a bit. What do you guys think? Shortly could still mean next year ? :(

It’s so frustrating you call them one week and get a reply that ur application is at the final stage and you should hear from us soon the lady also said I should be included in the November ceremony and than u call them the following week and ur told ur application is in the second stage 😫 I just wish they’d give correct answers and stop contradicting themselves.

Anyone else being told different things when they phone?

First phone call, you will receive letter in two weeks time, 2nd call your application is still 2nd stage, so they have no idea what are they saying. :) - I dont trust them anything until I get in the post yes or no. Its not worth it to stress around for nothing.

Hi Cz2015,
Yeah that's very frustrating to get different responses every time when we call the department..I'm sure that's the case with many members on this forum here and I'm not an exception too...I would say patience is the key here and we need to let it happen on its own. We cant do much here i guess :)
Regards.

For the initial 3-4 months of this year I was getting phone response that they are awaiting external agency information. Then from May-June onwards they started saying it is in the process, then in August the lady said it been actively worked on, few weeks ago they said I will get update in the post but I didn’t get anything, 2 weeks ago the lady took my phone number and then called me back to tell me that the work is being done and I will hear from them shortly. I asked the question will I be included in the next ceremony and the response was “yes I will”. I have not received anything so I called them today and the lady said “ we are awaiting external agency information”. So back to square one...different responses from the same office.....

Hello guys,

I am losing hope to get approval on this ceremony too. I am really devastated with the department. Applied since 2016 June and still waiting. After 2nd stage since feb no update. I really don't know whats going on ? I just wrote them a handwritten letter by myself.I don't think changing a solicitor will make any difference. Any suggestions guyg?

Hello @Syjem, did you also apply as EUFAM? Otherwise, I'd inclined to think that there's something in your application that's holding it up. Possibly a court appearance or a fine, or a traffic offense. Could you please share it with us?

My application is not based on EUFAM status and I don't have any sort of fine or traffic offense.

I never understood the meaning of these replys

further processing
advance stage
final stage
application complete

non of those replies has proven promising most applicant who are waiting for a long time i-e 2 years just jump between these stages

@Mal111: yes about 3 - 4 weeks ago they told me that I will soon get update in post next week and will be included in the November Ceremony. The following week they took my mobile number and then after 2 hours I received phone call from them that I will hear from them shortly. Last week on the phone they said they are awaiting information from the external agency (I was getting this response of awaiting information from November 2017 to March/April 2018 and then they stopped saying this). Applied in November 2016( 5 years residence Stamp 1 and Stamp 4), acknowledgment in December 2016, 2nd stage letter in July 2017, since then nothing. No charges, no court appearance or any such record.

Hi I applied for Irish citizenship in July 2016 based on 5 years residence, stamp 4. My file went to second stage in November 2016. It has been 2 years my file in second stage and they don't give me much information. Could anyone recommend what to do?

Did you ever call to find out the progress? From experience, calling them pays off at the end. Just keep calling. Even folks with court or fine records still get notified of the reason for the delays and expected response dates. Keep calling.
