Applied in Nov 2016. Rang today to get an update the lady on phone said waiting Foreign Agency Report to further process your app as I said the has been said several times before as well, she then said we have requested a fresh one on 13th feb.
While they sent several letters before that your app is being prepared for submission in 2017 and 18.

If the flag attached to your account is truly representing your country of origin, then it is kind of obvious that they are discriminating you based on your country of origin. Pity that the approach followed by the department seems to play a waiting game and keep people waiting indefinitely till either they leave the country or go for legal action...
Yes many people I know from Pakistan are waiting for 2-3 years and longer and other countries do not take so long. You are correct.
People from Pakistan have special treatment here. The last ceremony in April doesn't mention how many people get citizenship from Pakistan. The minimum number is 61 people from China so I assume people from Pakistan are less than 30 that get citizenship. So I think we have to create thread to discuss the experience from Pakistan.
Agreed. If I get treated like that, I would even get some posters, gather my friends and go outside their burgh Quay office for a protest.
People did that and got rid of the stupid re entry visas.
INIS have this childish excuse that citizenship is not a right, but a privilege. They do forget that protesting against discrimination is our right though.
No countries including Pakistan should be discriminated. Pakistanis pay the taxes in this country as well, just like any other nationalities.

I am not sure you can argue that there is special treatment just on the basis of numbers at ceremonies. I understand that you have experienced a long time for approval, but just looking at the numbers from the last ceremony doesn't make the point as in previous ceremonies there have been many more from Pakistan. 115 in the November 2018 ceremony, and 147 in May 2018 Ceremony.

As a point of comparison, there were 84 and 87 in each ceremony from China. If I look at 2016 census, there were 9,600 Chinese nationals and 7,400 Pakistani nationals in Ireland.

According to the 2016 Census report, there are actually 12,891 Pakistani National living in Ireland, an increase of about 5k since 2011. Therefore your figure of the population of Pakistani is much lower than it actually is.

Interesting - can you link to the report?

I am looking at Statbank table E7002 "Population Usually Resident and Present in the State 2011 to 2016 by Nationality, Sex, County of Usual Residence and Census Year"

Also this link has the same number.

In there, I can see: 2011 (6,847) and 2016 (7,351). There is also a number in 2016 of 2,769 Irish-Pakistani. I left this out of my earlier post as this would seem to be people from Pakistan who already have Irish citizenship. That's a total of 10,120 so still not close to your number.

see page 2.

One must note that it is people born in Pakistan, who will usually be Pakistani anyway, unless they are of Afghani origin born in Pakistan.

I accept that some may hold UK nationality also and included in the count. So you figure in the end may be correct.

Have you contacted your TD or written to the department of justice to seek an update or explanation?

I did it last year. TD got the same copy paste reply. No gain. TD cant do anything. If you know you are a genuine applicant and confident about your case so come forward and take a legal action in the form of JR ( Judicial review ) or the protest. Involve social media aswell.

I was commenting on what you wrote which was about the number of people in the last ceremony from Pakistan compared to the number of people from China.

No. But I'm not sure anyone has facts on that by country of origin.

They told me January that my file is prepared. After that some week they say file submitted and another week say it is not submitted

So still playing submitted and not submitted....

According to INIS, in May 2019 there were 763 applications still waiting from 2016 (out of 13,000). On this forum, I think there are only 3 people waiting longer than you. If I were you, I would do a FOI request to find out what is happening.

Hi. I got FOI on my application. It has been filled upto question 21 in which someone has signed and sent me second stage letter in the end of 2017 and no other question is filled. But there is another checklist(submission checklist prior to submission for Minister decision) which is all filled and signed in Oct 2018. I don’t understand when everything is done then why they are delaying. Any suggestions what to do please?
