Differences in Date

Post by johnyak » Fri Sep 17, 2021 5:06 pm

I am observing difference in dates on my passport and GNIB?IRP Card.

The date on Passport is actually wrong which is handwritten/stamped by the authorized person.
Such as Date on passport is
- 5-Aug-17 on passport & GNIB date is 16-July-17
- 31-Dec-19 on passport & GNIB date is 12-January-20

Concerned if this will create an issue in future?

Hi,

Prior to registration for the IRP, an immigration officer will stamp your passport with a date to indicate that you must register for your IRP before that date. Hence, the first date on your passport may have been a little later than the date on the IRP (the IRP may have been issued earlier than the date previously stamped on the passport).

Regarding the second date, did you get your IRP renewed?

Thank you,

Zed :)

Date differences are normal and are expected. There is no right or wrong. Both are correct. The dates in the system are the ones on the IRP card.

Your passport would be stamped on the date of your registration, while the IRP would have the date when it was printed. Certain offices stamp the passport first and you get your card at a later stage; in other places you get your IRP card from the local Garda station before they stamp your passport.

Thought they said stamping of passport is no longer required for registration? Is that correct @littlerr?

Yes that’s correct, from last November or December I believe.
