Documents after getting Irish passport not returned

Post by gimi » Sun May 16, 2021 6:52 pm

Hi, I applied for Irish passport in December 2020 and I got my passport 2 weeks ago. After 2 days they sent me all the supporting documents except my Original Certificate of Naturalisation.

I still haven't received my certificate after 2 weeks. It is not possible to call them or email them due to level 5 or 4.

I sent a letter last week, asking the return of my certificate but they haven't replied and I don't think they will, until the office is fully opened.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, it sounds like that the office may have lost your certificate. They should be returned along with all other supporting documents.

Use WebChat during working hours: https://www.dfa.ie/passports/contact/

The WebChat button will be enabled between 9am - 5pm on weekdays.

In the case that your certificate is confirmed lost by DFA, you can apply for an official statement confirming your citizenship status. You shouldn't have to do that (as you already have your passport) but it's good to have an official correspondence.
