If offfences were commited before the application was send, it should have been declared on the form with copies of receipts for fines paid if any. Not reporting will do more damage than reporting if discovered later as it will mean that the applicant made a false declaration.

11.1 Have you ever committed any offences against the laws of Ireland or any overseas country?

When I submitted citizenship application I didn’t have any points I just got last year and on the vetting link there was no option to mention about penalty points they were only asking about any criminal offence or court hearing so far I am not involved in anything.

I didn't have any penalty points when I applied for citizenship application early last year, I just got €80 fine this year just few months ago. I was nervous and told my solicitor to inform the citizenship and attached copy of my paid fine ticket, but my solicitor said no its unnecessary because it won't affect my application because Gardai only stopped me for unaccompanied and this is a minor issue and because I never had any issue with Gardai in the past.

I have put this to couple of solicitors (highly reputed) and got mixed answers about panelty points. According to them panelty points nature cause the damage if it's not disclosed for instance drink driving point can put you out the cliff as regard to good character but driving in 80km on 60km road can be justifiable. So some says tell them some says its pragmatic.

But I think it's always best to tell them before having any regret, because if we won't it'll eventually come up when vetting cert generated and it can be used against us.

@faran2 I've seen someone evetting disclosure ( that vetting was for security Guarding, its same I guess because he got the same link and put his details etc) disclosure mentioned he has no trace for criminal conviction, he also has points on his licence but disclosure didn't said anything.

Hope this may help you to decide weather to mention it or not

my vetting has done and viewed on 4th August. no news yet.
@faraan 2. on vetting disclosure it just states criminal record with trace or no trace found. penalty point is a different issue however 3 points is minor. did you get points after second stage letter? Q2. Did you disclose it at any stage of your application?

No still waiting. I’ll update if I get approval next week.

How many weeks we should wait for approval after e vetting?
