EU member with pregnant non-EU spouse medical insurance

Post by Braders » Sat Dec 29, 2018 1:15 pm

Hi all,

I'm currently living in the Philippines with my wife of the past 3 years who is from here. She is now 2 months pregnant and we are looking into moving to Ireland to be closer to my family in the UK.

We are in the process of submitting her application for a short stay visa to accompany me going there under the free movement directive. Our plan is for me to work there and for us to stay there for the foreseeable future.

Looking ahead to the application for her resident card it seems to be a requirement for her to have medical insurance? Is this true and has anyone had experience getting medical insurance there when already pregnant.

Thanks very much!
