ETA delayed. Initially 28/05, then 03/06, and now 05/06.

I just talked to the online chat team. According to them, there's a surge in the first-time applications via naturalisation (as expected), so it is expected that there will be some delays. Whether the scheduled issue date is changed or not depends on agent who takes your file.

Finally received my brand new Irish passport today!

I applied on 3rd of May, on my application my original issue date was today 29th of May, but I had a web chat with them yesterday about my travelling date on 9th June, they said they will put a note on my application for sending back my original passport from my birth country or speed up the process.

Two hours later I got a phone call from the department and said my application is approved and it will be print and post today. That was yesterday and I received this morning in the post!

Have to say I am very impressed the service and help I got from the department.

Congratulations!

Mine is sadly still processing and no ETA even after asking customer service. Initial ETA was 27th of May and status bar going backwards.

To be honest I was presently surprise when they rang me and told me it will be print and post, because when I chat to the guy on web chat he said he can’t guarantee it will be print, best he can do is put a note on my application. He also say it will take a few working days for my original passport to be posted back to me.

Just a curiosity: in the 'place of birth' section of the passport... did they put the name of your hometown or the country? Or both?

Anira, Have you requested your original passport to be send out to you, or they just sent it by themselves?

I think passport express has a guaranteed next-day delivery, so if it's printing today, you should have it by tomorrow. Good luck :D

Anira, you mentioned your progress bar was going backwards - has it reached the end and then status changed to Printing, or has it just gone to Printing from the middle of the progress bar?

It hasnt reached the end yet. It went back, but Not to the middle, just a quarter of the bar. Not there is like 1cm lol left and it says printing. I talked to them and I am hoping to be able to collect it today because they havent posted it yet. They will ring me back to let me know if it is possible or not.

Just got a call from the passport office saying they cannot progress my application (applied on 02/05) as my birth certificate is not the original one (I got a copy sent by municipality and officially translated and it was enough for the naturalisation application).
So now they will send my docs back and I will have to submit everything again once I sorted this out.

And it took them nearly a month to say that? Gosh

That's outrageous. I have been trying to ask them whether they have progressed my application, but now I know they definitely haven't...

And this is a new record...

Had a live chat today. My application is still showing as processing, it’s now 22 working days. Chat agent has mentioned my application is now with the checker who is checking the documentation, and if everything is ok my passport will go to the printing stage soon
