Many congratulations to those who are starting to receive their passports. Good to know that things are definitely starting to move. I wondered if the staff were working behind the scenes over weekends as well as the backlog must be massive?
Still patiently hanging in there myself. Applied 23/12, paperwork submitted 18/3. Beginning to wonder if there is something wrong, although I assume I might of heard something by now if there was.
I hope you do receive your passport FlyingMum!! I applied before Christmas last year, I'm not sure when the clock started ticking but in December my tracking screen said I would get my passport on 21st January 2021. I have spoken on chat to passport office re application several times and have been assured my application will be processed. Today I received an email saying "We are unable to process your application at this time as the application has now expired"!!!!! I have to reapply!! Not amused. I managed to speak to someone on chat this morning and he said it was because they cannot hold payment details for more than a certain amount of time - yet they have already taken the payment?

Oh no! That’s so frustrating - and my online application will be 6 months old on 23/6 so I wouldn’t be surprised if I get the same! I’ve tried ringing, but a recorded message says that due to the high volume of calls, they’re not taking any calls and the webchat facility seems to be permanently unavailable. Mine should be so straightforward too. Mother born in Ireland and all supporting paperwork correct and in order.

Thank you for letting me know though. At least I can be prepared for the news. You’re right, it seems crazy that payment has gone through but they can’t hold it? They held on to my son’s €278 FBR payment for 18 months with no problem!

Webchat is available during work hours. If you see it greyed out, it means the queue is full. You just have to refresh the webpage. If you have a vacant computer, run a little macro to get it refreshed once every minute or so until the button turns back on.

The web chat was unavailable when I started typing this reply, but is back to available when I posted it. It’s not that difficult to get a slot (comparing to the citizenship application helpline…)

Thank you very much - you were absolutely right! I persevered and after a 10 minute wait got through on the webchat. Your advice was really appreciated. :)

It transpires that my application is waiting to be assigned to an entitlement officer and should be processed in the very near future, which is reassuring.

Hello,

My application is stuck due to asking for "original" birth certificate, I try to reach out to them explaining the birth certificate they got is an original certified copy and it's legalized under Hague apostille.

Has someone else has their application stuck due to this?

I do not have an "original" , instead whenever you need one you register in the registrar office and they give you an exact copy certified by law.

Hi everyone,

I was looking at the additional documents for the first time application and it states "We accept internet printouts that are stamped by issuing authority". Does that mean I need to get my e-bills to get stamped in the office of that provider?

Hi everyone. Here is my timeline for our family's first Irish passport applications.

For my two sons aged 18 and 16:

Online application received 23/1/2021
Documents received 11/5/2021
Passports printing 24/6/2021

I am just waiting for my adult one to be processed, hoping today or tomorrow.

Our estimated date of issue was exactly 2 weeks ago, so from receipt of supporting docs it took 6 weeks.

A good question, I actually sent my printed out electricity bills and bank statements without the stamp, I don't think we need the stamp, can someone confirming this?

Thanks.

YAY!!! Progress bar has changed to ‘your passport is being printed’!

Application online 23.12.20
Paperwork sent 18.3.21
Estimated issue date 18.5.21

Fingers crossed it should plop through the letterbox in the next few days. :D

Hi there,

No, I didn’t get any of my bills stamped. As they had my name and supported and confirmed my address, I just enclosed three different ones with my documentation. Hope that helps?

I got my supporting documents back on the post today, but application still on processing stage.

Has anyone else faced the same? Receiving docs first before passport?

Thanks for your answer. I probably will send 3 different ones too when I apply for it.

Hi All

Can someone please suggest what is the next status after 'Application processing' if the application has made some progress ? It has been showing the same status as 'Application processing' for weeks now.

After about 12 weeks, mine changed on Thursday from “Application processing” to “Your passport is being printed” On Friday, it changed again to “Your Passport Book was posted on 25/06/2021” and a tracking number for An Post.

I feel your frustration. As many on here have confirmed, don’t read too much into the actual progress bar. Mine went virtually all the way to the end and then moved back again!

Hi all
I have two questions in relation to new passport application.
1.will same proof be enough for proof of name and addreses?
How many each required

2.PPS original card or copy?

1. Proof of name and address cannot be the same. Different proofs need to be submitted. One proof is enough for each.

2. Photocopy of the original PPS card (both front & back side)

Hi, can anyone advise if a stamp is required from a witness for online application Identity Verification Form? There seems to be no box for a stamp. I just find it unusual as paper application requires a stamp. Thanks

Gardai would know what to do. Regardless of whether it's a paper or online application, Gardai would always carry out the same checks and sign/stamp the application in the same way. I think they would place a stamp and put their name or Garda Number in that stamp - at least this was the case a couple of years ago. If you are in doubt, just have a quick call to your local Garda station.
