Did tracking status change from processing during this period?

Yeh it was changed on 8th June as “your passport is being printed and than on 9th June your application is completed & your passport is dispatched with tracking number”

Mine status changed to printing as well. Send Docs in beginning of May and applied in early March.

Many congratulations to those who are starting to receive their passports. Good to know that things are definitely starting to move. I wondered if the staff were working behind the scenes over weekends as well as the backlog must be massive?
Still patiently hanging in there myself. Applied 23/12, paperwork submitted 18/3. Beginning to wonder if there is something wrong, although I assume I might of heard something by now if there was.

Hi Everyone,

I applied using Passport online on 18 May 2021. Sent my supporting materials from the USA via USPS Priority International on 20 May. My USPS tracking has said "in transit to next facility" since 25 May. I know that this could mean that my packet is sitting in a facility somewhere or stuck in customs.

The Irish passport tracking states that it's still waiting for my documentation.

Did anyone else experience long delays in getting their supporting materials delivered? I'm wondering if the Passport Office won't officially "accept" documentation for those of us who applied after 29 April. In other words, my materials are in a stack because the processing clock won't start until the backlog is cleared.

Congrats to those who are getting their passports printing!

I checked the Irish Passport Twitter feed, and saw this:

"If documents were recently sent and received, they may not have been verified/checked/scanned yet. This can take a number of days. Please continue to monitor the tracker for the "processing" update.."

So I guess there is a stack of incoming documents!

If it says it’s still waiting for documentation, it means they have not received your application yet. They should update your application status to document received as soon as they received it from the post office.

If you have a USPS tracking number, it should look like AB123456789CD. You should track it on www.anpost.ie to see if it has been delivered.

Hi all,
While submitting an online application for Irish Passport for First Time applicants, can any one please tell me which option should I select for the question below?

My passport book is:
Expiring or Expired
Lost
Stolen
Damaged
Full (visa Pages)

It does not have an option like 'None of the above' for First Time Applicants :?

Thank you - it's very helpful to know that An Post recognizes the same tracking number. I just checked, and An Post has no record of it, so I guess it's stuck somewhere in the USPS system.

Just as a reference, I have a few packages from Americas & Asia to Ireland recently. It takes on average 2-3 weeks to complete the export process and put them onto a plane, and another 2-4 weeks before the tracking number shows up on An Post. Once it shows up, it should just take 2-3 days for it to be delivered.

I shall adjust my expectations accordingly! After waiting 18+ months for my FBR approval and certificate, I can certainly wait for this process to take its course. :D

Make sure to choose "No" at "My most recent passport was issued less than 15 years ago" page. Then you'll have an option to pick "Naturalisation". When they say "my most recent passport" - it means an Irish passport, but since it's a first time you are applying for - you never had an Irish passport before, hence the answer is "no" to the question of recent passports.

Is there any benefit in applying online first and then posting the documents later? DOes it help speed up the processing timeline?
Thanks.

Processing of applications is based on the date when all documents are received. You can fill in your application online in advance but it won’t speed your application up whatsoever.

I can now say that the naturalisation journey is over for me :D

The timeline:
* applied to become a citizen in Feb 2019
* got approved and sent the final fee in Feb 2020
<COVID happened>
* received the certificate of naturalisation in Feb 2021 and applied for a passport
<Passport services were offline>
* sent supporting documents for the passport in early May 2021
* received the passport on June 15th 2021
* received the originals and other supporting documents next day on June 16 2021

Good luck to everyone, be patient and don't stress! A big thank you for everyone in this forum for all the help and support!

Fantastic news!! :D :D

Still patiently waiting here.

My son applied for and finally received his FBR certificate in December 2020 after an 18 month wait. He applied for his passport online and submitted his documentation in mid March and, like myself, still has ‘processing’ on his progress bar. Not sure in what order the department is preparing the passports, but nothing more we can do at this stage. Tantalisingly close!
