Finally, progress!

Received the address confirmation email today (20Feb2020). My application was received on 28Mar2019, so just shy of 11 months to get to this point.

I've got something to celebrate this weekend!

My mum got a msg on her passport tracker saying there ls an issue with her photo.

Can’t think what it could be, she got it taken by an Irish passport approved photo shop in Glasgow, Jessops. Jessops said it passed on the online Irish passport checker when she bought them, I assume they submit & check before they give you/sell you the photos

Anyone else had an issue with this.
I’ve not heard from my mum yet as to what the email says, as she’s on a cruise. (She told me to check the tracker for her while she’s away)
Edit

She’s sent me the email.
It says her head isn’t centred in the photo/her head can’t touch the sides or the top of photo.
It’s not a big deal to resubmit, but more annoying as she went the approved shop and they said it passed the relevant checks. It’s an online application & photo.
Very Puzzling

Oh that is SO annoying. That's the same shop I got my photos taken in and while I haaaaaate the photo itself they seemed pretty knowledgeable about the requirements. Hopefully at the very least they refund the money and don't charge for the new one!

Ye it’s pretty annoying. Hopefully they’ll redo the photo free of charge. They made out like the photo is sort of pre approved/check in some sort of online Irish passport computer system.
Now I’m just thinking it’s checked by eye against the requirements.

They have software where they select the country the passport photo is for and it checks that it meets requirements. It's not official.

I had my baby's photo done in a shop and watched them do it, they select the country and it gives them red, amber and green ratings for various categories such as brightness, head position and stuff.

Needless to say, ours got rejected (by the UK passport office). They re-did them for free but they were rejected again.

In the end I took a photo with my phone of her in her Moses basket and cropped out the basket, submitted that and it was approved.

That is mind boggling
When she gets back from holiday/Sunday. She’ll go get another one done. She was asking me does she need to get the new photo signed & witnessed again but I have no idea how this scenario would work

Does anyone know if this 2nd photo request would need to be certified signed by the original appropriate person again?

Has anyone requested delivery to a different address? I think I'm still a few weeks away from hearing anything (application received 24th April 2019), but I was wondering whether I could give my work address for delivery as it's manned 24 hours and they will always sign for things.

They asked me for proof of address (like a utility bill) so I don't think sending it anywhere except your residence is an option.

Hi all,

I have a maternal Irish-born grandmother. I think I now have all the documents I need to apply, but my UK-born mother does not have a passport, driving licence, or any other state-issued ID document. Should that matter? (I have her birth certificate of course.)

Hi all,

I have been following this thread since I applied for my FBR. I have noticed nearly all of the March applicants have heard, but I have yet to! So I thought I would join in!

My details:
Application sent: 27/02/20
Recieved in Dublin: 28/03/2019

Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer!

Regards
LH

Yes, it matters. The best course of action is for your mother to get a form of ID issued before you apply.

If you cannot get this, then you need to contact the FBR department directly and explain your situation. They may give permission for you to apply using proof of address from a GP for your mother. Alternatively, they may accept other photo ID like a bus pass. However, this is very much on a case by case basis and requires prior permission.

Congrats, I'm still waiting patiently for a certificate, when I called they did say 5-6 week printing delay. I'm about halfway at nearly 3 weeks.

Hope you get sorted soon! I’m not really in any rush for the certificate itself so won’t hold my breath

Just a thought, would a provisional driving license be the quickest & cheapest option for him & his mum. She obviously doesn’t have to use it moving fwd for anything. Would just give him something to use as proof of her ID
