Mind sharing the age of your daughter? I applied for mine around your time (she was barely 1 month old at that time), but still didnt receive any contact from them.

Also, if you ask them, verify if they need to be witnessed or not. Cheers

She's nearly 18 months old. I filled in the application when she was about 3 weeks old (online) and sent in my documents at the end of May 2019. The date on my 'application received' email is the 21st of May 2019.

I've taken new photos and uploaded them to a photo print service to get physical copies in the post. Then my plan is to print out the (tracked and signed for) postage online and get a neighbour to pick it up off my doorstep and stick it in a post box. - no way I'm waiting till the end of my quarantine!

It says in the email that the new photos don't have to be witnessed or proofed in any way.

Update: Journey is complete!

Folks, I have my Irish passport in my hand. So grateful & excited! My timeline ends as follows:

April 2019: Documents received in Balbriggan.
July 27 2020: Confirmation of Address email.
August 4th: Congratulations email.
Added to FBR July 27th 2020.
Applied via passport online from UK & sent forms early August.
Passport received in less than 3 weeks!

I am no longer the (Real) Brexit Irishman, I am just another Irishman! 😊😁 Best of luck to everyone going forward.

Slán!
What did your passport tracker look like during that time? Mine's been on "processing" the whole time and I also submitted early August, received in Dublin on the 10th. Did you send your actual UK passport or just a photocopy?

Yeah, I think they only do it with babies and very small children - because obviously she was only 3 weeks old in the originals and looks absolutely nothing like that now, she's up and running about and starting to talk!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the advice in this thread, its been a lifesaver.

I sent my application on 08/07/2020 during the lockdown, so I'm not expecting to be added to the FBR for a LONG time.

My question is - has anyone else who sent their documents during the lockdown received a confirmation of receipt email?

Thanks all.
Application sent in apríl 2020 - Still Not heard anything although registered post confirmed it got there

Hi everyone,

I have been following this thread for some time but finally have some good news so thought I would share my timescale particularly for those those worried re pregnancy.

16th June 2019: Application submitted
1st July 2019: Documents received in Balbriggan.
28th August 2020: Confirmation of Address email.

I learned my girlfriend was expectant in March. I called through and was told not to worry but get in touch later in the year if still not heard anything. In late June I wrote to Balbriggan to explain the circumstances and enclosed a copy of the UK NHS pregnancy paperwork. Last week I sent an email via the online form detailed up thread. On the 28th of August I received an email explaining they had expeditied my application as I am an expectant parent, stated they have added me to the register and that I should reply with my home address and should receive the certificate and return of the documents shortly.

I am not sure if it was the letter or email which sped up my application but for those expectant parents that are becoming worried it might be worth doing both.

Good luck everyone!

Michael
Thank you for sharing this update. I mailed proof of pregnancy and it arrived a little over 2 weeks ago but I haven't heard anything. I emailed them via the general online form, even tho it says FBR not handled there, asking for an update last Thursday but I have not heard anything yet. Do you know how many days it took after you emailed for them to get back to you? I'm just getting worried b/c due date is Oct 15 and if I need to send anything else it can be cutting it close.

I mailed proof of pregnancy a couple of days shy of a month ago and haven't heard anything yet. I also sent in a message through the online form and have heard nothing. My case isn't imminently urgent as the due date isn't until January but it would be nice to know what's going on. It's very strange how some have had success and some haven't.

I'm excited I just got my congratulations e-mail. Your application for Irish citizenship through entry on the foreign births register has been successful. My certificate has been mailed. I do not know how folks have found when they were added to the FBR. I'll see it when I get the certificate I suppose.

Application submitted online: 30 April 2019
Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan: 8 May 2019
Confirmation of address email: 26 August 2020
Added to FBR:
Congrats email: 1 September 2020

Hi

Just received the congratulations email (application made in May last year) and I'm waiting for my certificate. I was just wondering if I will have to resend documents/photos for the passport application or if they keep a record of these? I'm in the UK.

Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan: 21 May 2019

When I applied for my passport last year (I'm first generation, so only need the FBR for my children) it sits on processing pretty much the whole time until shortly before it's sent.

Looking at my history on there it was on processing for three months, then went to printing and dispatched in a couple of days.

Hello everyone,

Has DFA re-opened FBR scheme? We have a small baby wishing to become a Paddy as soon as the process open.

Thank you.

Hi there,

It just looked like yours. It said "processing" and then suddenly it said complete & despatched! Luck of the Irish I guess as it was a quick turnaround! 🤣 I sent a certified copy of my wretched UK passport (certified by my witness).

Next step is try to find a sensible way to move to Ireland as sadly I was ignorant & oblivious to the whole FBR process until 2016 & so my kids have missed out on citizenship! Hoping we can relocate to Ireland long term & see if they (and my wife!) can be naturalised by virtue of being of "Irish associations" after 3-5 years. Next step on the journey home to Éire awaits! Best of luck with your passport! I'm sure it'll turn up soon.

The Irishman. 🍀

How long is the average wait between the address confirmation email and the congratulations email? My brother and I jointly applied, and both received our address confirmation emails on August 13th. We both responded quickly with emailed address proof, and he's already received his congratulations email (August 31st). I still haven't heard anything regarding mine, however.

Also, for joint applicants that live in different states, do they clarify which address to send everything back to? Or how does that work?

Application sent: 11 April 2019 from MN, USA
Email confirmation of receipt of application: 30 April 2019
Address confirmation email: 13 August 2020

I haven't posted mine yet. It's a joint application between me and my brother so I'm still waiting on him getting a few things but I have to send it off before I move to Spain so we decided to fill the forms in now and get them witnessed on Monday. I'm in the UK at the moment and will be keeping my address as my mom's home as I will be back next year

Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a loooong time but I finally got the good news that my application was approved and my certificate is on the way. I did a sibling application and was initially worried because I have gone to Australia to travel (horrible timing with Covid, not a lot of tribal can be done for me as I’m in Victoria right now) but luckily they agreed to send my certificate to my sibling’s address rather than me having to provide proofs for Aus.

Application submitted online: 19th April 2019
Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan: 10th May 2019
Confirmation of address email: 2nd September 2020
Congrats email: 3rd September 2020

Oh, gotcha! You’ll still probably get yours to Balbriggan faster than I will - it’s slow going posting from way over here!

I REALLY regret not doing this sooner. :|

So, after all my panicking I got an email about ten minutes ago asking for confirmation of my address also telling me I have been entered onto the register. I can’t believe it! I’m finally Irish after a 13 month wait. They did expedite my application at the end due to pregnancy but I wasn’t too far away anyway. Here’s my timeline.

Application submitted online: 25th June 2019
Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan: 2nd July 2019
Confirmation of address email: 3rd September 2020
Congrats email: 3rd September 2020
Date added to FBR: 3rd September 2020?!?!
FBR certificate received: Pending

Thats Awesome! Congrats!!! May I ask when your wife is due? We're on similar timelines (I received the email acknowledging receipt August 6th) and my wife is due in March. I sent off a letter with an ultrasound so hopefully I'll be hearing something soon as well.

Cheers!

She’s due in January but we have been told due to a complication she is likely to have to give birth earlier which I informed the FBR Team about as well. Good luck, hopefully it won’t be too much longer for you.

Application received email: 21st of May 2019.
Request for new photographs: 27th of August 2020.
Confirmation of address: 4th of September 2020.

So my daughter's application is almost done! I replied to the confirmation of address email within a minute of seeing it!

I had the new photos sent direct from a photo shop in Ireland (I uploaded them to their website) to make it faster. But they sent them non tracked by mistake. I ended up sending another set yesterday from home (the UK). Had to get a neighbour to post them because we're quarantined after coming back from Spain! I'm not sure which set they received! Or if they're randomly going to get the second set after it's approved! But the main thing is that it's approved and my daughter's future is safe from Brexit and whatever else this backwards idiotic government is about to do!
