Kiss me, I’m Irish!!!!

FBR Documents Accepted: 6th June 2019
FBR Confirmation of Address Email: 16th Oct 2020
FBR Congratulations Email: TODAY!!!!!! :-)
FBR Certificate Received: Printed and posted out (no tracking ID yet)
Thank you for sharing and congratulations! I had a similar issue... I received a confirmation of address email on 9th Oct 2020 and then nothing until 2 weeks later when I web chatted them and they said that I had been on the FBR on the 10th of October, along with a tracking ID. I haven't received anything yet, but this helps a lot to understand the timeline. Good luck!

Think I must have got in just in time, had an e-mail today asking to confirm my address and then a reply stating that I have been added to the register today. However, due to level 5 restrictions until 12th Jan I should expect my certificate and documents 4-6 weeks after the office reopens next year.

FBR Documents Recieved: 9th Sept 2019
Confirmation of Address: 22nd Dec 2020
Added to FBR: 22nd Dec 2020

I was also waiting for congratulations e mail after the address confirmation but I guess it would be in January after the level 5.
I had the address confirmation on 16th of this month I think they do take around 4 to 6 weeks to print and send the cert out.
Hopefully we all will receive soon.

All the best

Good luck dublin3 and wishing you the best.

I think the officers work from home hence lack of postage logistics and lack of interest to answer emails or phones and the huge lag

I don’t think we can contact the fbr office because the only way to contact them is web chat and that is not working since the opening of their office.
There in no e mail address or phone line so nothing we can do. I asked for information to the same person who sent me address e mail but didn’t get any reply so I thought maybe they are not allowed to reply.
I guess its too early anyways because none of the forum members who have got address confirmation between 10december to 16 have received any update.
I will update soon as I hear something.

Hello, long time lurker!
Documents received: 28th August 2019

I am very recently an expectant parent, and finally managed to get through on the webchat today - I followed the link it told me to follow, and waited 50 minutes but finally got someone.

"However the very first response to my message explaining this, and giving my application number, said : "I am unable to assist you further at this time. This is the Irish Passport Service (link) Please clear the cache and history from your browser.

I have given you all the information I have available. As I have no further updates, I am going to end this chat as there are other customers who need attention."

and then, then chat was cancelled and I couldn't respond.

So, there's that!

The post from 'dublin3' above yours suggests that the FBR webchat service hasn't been working since the FBR office re-opened. I've just looked online and this appears to be the case - there's a message saying 'webchat agents are currently unavailable.' I've also looked at the Passport Service page, and their webchat appears to be up and running.

Could your problem be that your query was about FBR, but you'd contacted the Passport service, who don't administer it? (You haven't said what you were wanting to contact them about so I don't know.)

Send a registered letter (dated also!) they actually receive letters but dont respond so at least they can backdate your certificate shall things go wrong and you give birth before they respond

yes it hadn't been working for me either - but this link explicitly said that if you had an urgent enquiry such as being an expectant parent to click this link. I think its been saying unavailable due to volume of traffic, because the same link said available hence why I clicked it. Oh well, will send a recorded letter as suggested!

Hey thicklobster,

They did have an address published on the website to write to for expectant parents back in August when I did it. The passport chat were very helpful at that point. Maybe they’ve changed their policy since then. Unfortunately it’s too long ago for me to remember the address to write to although it was in Balbriggan I believe. I also clearly remember being asked to mark in bold on the envelope that it was an urgent pregnancy case.

I feel your pain - every time I reply to people with advice, they always seem to disappear, however, I don't think that's the case here - your assistance/advice has been acknowledged:

(If urgent also include the due date beside Pregnancy Section) Also, make contact with the passport webchat if due in the period covered by lockdown level 5 restrictions.

The Irish government has agreed that from 24 December, Level 5 restrictions will apply nationally and Processing of Foreign Birth registrations is paused again. And people are requested not send supporting documentation as it cannot be processed at this time.

I wonder if they still work during that period and the pause is only for receiving documents? *wondering*

The e-mail I received from them on the 23rd Dec said that the office would be closed during the level 5 restrictions. They said my certificate and documents wouldn't be posted back to me until the office reopens again so I think they are not working.

Frustrating to have another closure. I can't help feeling it's a little ironic that a lot of us are here because of the UK's decision and handling of Brexit, and now it's likely the UK's handling of their variant of Covid is going to keep us here even longer!

Fingers crossed it's a short one. If there's any consolation it's not as if many of us could use those shiny Irish passports to go anywhere anyway.
