Did anyone get an email that didn't specify their documents were received like mine? I assumed this email meant they had gotten all my docs, but seeing that others' emails seem more specific I'm starting to worry this is just them acknowledging my online app/payment...
I received two emails, 1st one confirmed payment, second email specified supporting documents in addition to application. Both looked like standard auto replies and included application No.

I don't see why they would change the email between Aug 2019 (mine) and Dec 2019, but if you received two emails I would think the second email would be the witnessed application and support.

Hi Angelo_2019, you’ve mis-attributed the quote to me. I simply replied to kareeseve who asked the question. Not a problem, just wanted to clarify :)

Just had a look at the Foreign Ministry Facebook page at

They state that

"The processing of Foreign Birth Registration (FBR) applications has resumed. If you have any queries regarding your application please contact the FBR team at the dedicated FBR webchat at https://bit.ly/2R38h7m "

It seems that the process is now underway again ... yippie!!!!

My mistake! The post is of September 2020 ... with recent statements of exasperation, similar to this forum.

My celebratory imported tin of Guinness (I know!) will remain in the fridge. Happy thoughts everyone! :D

Why are you providing something information that is neither current nor factually correct?

Not to worry, we all make mistakes. It’s now a close race between whether I get my residency permit in France first, or my Irish birth certificate. I thought France would win, but they’ve just extended the residency application portal for another three months so I’ll be pushed down the list again - unlike Ireland they’re dealing with the oldest applications last, which seems a bit rude!

It's nice to see things moving along again for all of those who got caught in Brexit/Covid lockdowns.

I finally did my online passport application yesterday and will be mailing all my docs to Dublin within the week. My best estimate is that I'll probably receive my passport almost exactly 2 years to the day from when I first started this process... considering almost 18 months of this was COVID lockdown, I'd say not bad all things considered.

My Timeline Updated July 1, 2021:
21/08/2019 -- FBR Application online/paid fee
30/08/2019 -- Mailed/registered all documents
05/09/2019 -- E-mail from FBR office confirming receipt of my documents
03/12/2020 -- E-mail for address confirmation and FBR application will be approved shortly!
17/12/2020 -- FBR mailed
11/01/2021 -- FBR received
30/06/2021 -- Online Passport Application
TBD -- Passport received

Almost there! Best of luck to everyone still waiting!

It's good to hear of people getting their passports / FBR. I really hope we can all move forward in due course. I think this is a time to pause and for some parts of life to remain on hold for a it. We will get through it!

Congrats! Dying to know what happened to my application (sent later, but my documents were received two weeks earlier) - in any case, at least things are moving somewhere.

@jgclancy We are also in the same place. My son submitted application on June 21,2019.He received confirmation of documents a couple weeks later and absolutely nothing since then.
Sure is frustrating seeing all of these later applications getting processed when we are still in limbo.
My son did the chat a while back and they confirmed he was in process, and he sent an email a week ago to ask again. Got the auto reply.
I don't know what team he has but I'm guessing it's 1.
We wish you good news soon and hope for us as well.

My 1st-time paper passport application is finally showing a status of "Processing" in the Passport Tracker. However, the estimated issue date is 17 months away. Really hoping the system will recalibrate and shorten that time estimate. Good luck to all who are waiting.

My timeline:

FBR:
Application/docs received in Balbriggan: 01 July 2019
Confirmation of address email: 24 September 2020
Date added to FBR: 25 September 2020
Congrats email: 01 October 2020
FBR certificate received: 20 October 2020

Passport:
Application/docs received by Consulate (SF): 18 January 2021
Passport Tracker status: Processing (as of 21 June 2021)
Passport approved: Pending
Passport posted: Pending
Passport received: Pending
Hello! Please provide an update on this when you can- I'm also in the same situation! I've asked to withdraw my paper application a couple of times so that I can submit an online application and I keep being told that if I submit it online I'll be at the back of the queue and it will take longer. Online is starting to look like a much better option, however! Best of luck with your application.
Once they’re properly back up and running it won’t take them too long to get into the swing of things. This was my passport tracker info from last year when they were working at full speed.

Applied Online: 18/09/2020
Documents Sent: 18/09/2020
Documents Received: 22/09/2020
Passport Dispatched : 30/09/2020
Passport Received: 05/10/2020
Thanks, @jamiepompey. Your numbers are a lot more encouraging.

I received a reply from the Consulate. They confirmed that the processing of my passport has begun and the estimated date on the tracker is a mistake. No updated estimates as of yet though. Good luck to all.
Some encouraging news:
A few days ago, I asked the Passport Service (via webchat) for an updated status. They said that the estimated issue date is July 5th. This morning, the passport tracker status now reads, "Printing. Your passport is being printed." :)

As it doesn’t seem unreasonable for me to hope for a ‘confirmation of address’ email over the summer, I’m wondering if it’s best just to let things go to my UK home, or should I inform them of my address in France where I’m currently resident? I don’t want to hold things up. My daughter could post things to me. I can’t envisage getting to the UK as my husband is embarking on a long cancer treatment programme which means weekly trips to Paris, and we simply can’t quarantine as things stand right now. Will it cause any hiccup if I get them to send things here? Will I need to send proof of address or anything? Thanks for any advice :)

Better to wait for them to ask for your address conformation.

Hiya Bigdaddy100
It’s been some time since I reviewed this informative blog, I guess I haven’t been here since I recd my passport in hand back on Jan 14,2021.
I know we kept each other on our FBR and passport progress. I just saw your passport update that it’s being printed tomorrow, so very happy for you bud, you will have it in your hands very soon.
I am still waiting to schedule my first trip to Ireland, it still doesn’t make sense for me yet since Ireland is managing a 2 week quarantine at specific approved hotels. I will wait until after that mandate is lifted.
Congrats on your progress!! ☘️
Best,
IrishNJUSAMan☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸

25 months and counting... (May 2019)

Team 5 by the way. Last correspondence was when they asked for updated photos (child applications) in October 2020. They got them but that is the last I heard.
