I have found this forum useful as many other appear to over the past year or so in working out what the current status is with regards to FBR timelines. Previously a forum member collated all the available timelines periodically and posted them in a succinct manner. Below is my attempt at this, although I think they were more proficient in it than myself. Apologies for a lengthy post.
Thanks so much for this and getting us back on track after the interludes of the past while. I took your list and had some fun (for me) and put it all in a spreadsheet, please let me know if anyone wants anything added but feel free to check add your own dates as they come through.

Thanks so much! I thought about google docs (although definitely more proficient in excel), but wasnt sure it was allowed. I managed to audit my entries today, and so just checking if you're happy for me to edit/add the missed entries over the weekend when i get time? This is also in the presumtion other users are happy for me to enter on their behalf. Don't want to mess with anything without permission although from the "instructions" tab I assume its meant to be collaborative?

That's brilliant work - having the processing times laid out like will be extremely valuable when everything's taking so long, communications are down and everyone's getting paranoid that their applications have been lost. Also, it would be a heroic effort if @Alittlelate was to start updating the spreadsheet on everyone's behalf. Suggestion: would it make sense to sort the lines according to final processing time (either 'App to now' or 'App to Cert') so that we can quickly see the general processing times, as well as seeing the extremes of which are the fastest/slowest? It might be useful to also try and include the country/embassy which the application relates to (in the 'notes?') so we can easily spot if that's an explanation for any inconsistencies in processing times.

Flatcap- Every single one of your posts keep me sane! Please keep “dominating”(lol) as I am very appreciative of the time you take to wonder, research, and share with all. Keep it up 👍🏼 For those that don’t want to read Flatcap’s post just keep scrolling! It’s pretty straightforward…
I'll put my hands up to being the one who said to Flatcap that he was 'dominating' this thread with his many, lengthy posts. In my defence, however, your post does provide a good demonstration of why filling this forum with chat can make it difficult to use. Hidden amongst the many pages of chat, you've obviously failed to notice one particularly-relevant recent post about Flatcap which might have saved you the effort of posting the above.

I'm fine to correct (and add to the ones i missed) the posts in the region 130-157 pages of this thread, however i'm not Sulla, and I would assume relying on one person is also kinda the reason no consolidated list was available for a while. I'm good to help and I can probably run reports or tables etc from that spreadsheet, but I would rather if possible not be altruistic to the extreme (especially if a collaborative spreadsheet is available) and then when my (or SLwlss's) time comes to move on, we would be leaving the thread in a similar predicament to before. Of course if it isnt allowed then i'm fine for every 5pages/week/fornight to collate the recent timeline posts for as long as im a relevant member.

The audited version is below for reference, same caveats as my previous post apply - but this one ive at least double checked, although any additions to the google docs sheet are not incorporated:

Sorry - I'd misunderstood your previous post and thought you were saying you were about to drop an updated version of that spreadsheet on us! Totally understood - although I'm again looking at this forum reasonably regularly on behalf of some cousins, I wouldn't want to commit to doing a data-gathering job like that either. Hopefully, the collaborative spreadsheet will manage itself. If it doesn't, I might scrape the forum data to do the occasional update to it, if only to keep my cousins in the loop.

But thanks for your latest update - really helpful.

Absolutely no worries, I just didn't particularly want to be timeline admin ad infinitum, especially considering my knowledge of google docs/sheets < excel/VBA. If the spreadsheet doesn't take off (and by god I hope it does, as the work in it is ace! - thanks again!) - then I'm here for very lengthy posts, regarding timelines - but only for the duration of the journey...... Hope everyone understands.

Yeah absolutely meant as a collaborative thing so that people can manage their own inputs and change the views and filter by what they want to see. Google sheets won't let me protect some of the cells and allow filtering so kicks up a warning when filtering but you can just ignore that. Currently the formulas are only set down to row 14,000 so that should be fine for a while... I have a few things i want to add still (i.e. a monthly summary table) but thought I should start somewhere

Have directly edited with my dates (hope this is okay SLwlss as saves you or alittlelate from having to update every time) :)

How did you apply for your first Irish passport through the Internet?
What processes are required for this?

You can renew online from anywhere in the world but for a first passport, you can only apply online from a few countries

Thanks to alittlelate and everyone for putting their details in my spreadsheet. Currently based on 107 data points (users) the average time to completion is shown in the table here:

Just remember with all of these stats, they are user driven and it wouldn't surprise me, especially ones back before the pandemic, that once they get on the FBR, they just didn't report back that the closing dates.

But great job to everyone who has shared, this info is really good and important for those of us in the queue.

Outstanding effort - thank you!

It's a shame we can't verify everyone, and as per the comment above, those who have forgotten up come back and report - still, an excellent resource.

I'll be very excited to see the first 2020 applicant go through (I know there was a sister/pregnancy one)

Agreed the wait kind of stinks, but it's nice to know that things are moving.
Out of interest, when were your two children born? From the timelines above I am assuming in the Oct-Nov 2019 region if applying via your entry onto the FBR?

My understanding (although happy to be corrected), is that an application to gain citizenship via a parent who obtained citizenship via FBR, the child must be born after the date the parent was entered onto the the register.

You are right. Children can only claim citizenship if their parent was a citizen at the time of their birth. The first foreign-born generation is automatically a citizen. Subsequent generations must each claim their citizenship.

In my example, my father was an Irish-born citizen. I was, therefore, automatically an Irish citizen even though I was born in the UK (I just had to apply for a passport). My UK-born children, however, are not automatically Irish, they just have the right to claim citizenship through the FBR process. Once they have done this, they become citizens and can pass on the right to claim citizenship to any children they may later have.

My understanding was that had I attempted to apply for an FBR for myself it would just have been rejected with a 'thanks, but not necessary' explanation. So I do wonder if noncomjd's children are eligible.
