The high rate of FBR completion for applicants around and after my submission date has me very concerned that my application and documents were simply lost in the shuffle. I received confirmation of receipt of documents on June 20, 2019. Since then no contact. If there is a problem with the application one would hope the processes would reach out. Otherwise why are so many later applications being completed. Does anyone know of a way to confirm they at least haven’t lost my info? Now 25 months since receipt.

I tell you, my father's birth certificate was lost by the FBR

SLWyss, thanks so much for putting together the Google sheet. Great work!
On the montly summary page, could you freeze row 1 with the column titles, so when you scroll down you can remember what the columns mean? I think you do that by clicking on the "1" in the leftmost column and then from the top bar select view and then freeze, but that's greyed out for ordinary viewers. Thanks!

Hi all,

I submitted my application to the FBR last November (Probably the worst time possible). I could now use an Irish passport desperately as I am waiting to move to and work in the EU (Netherlands). Admittedly, I should have sorted this out pre-Brexit but unfortunately I did not do so. Also, I beleive that I may need to submit some additional documents to my application eventually, does anyone know how to facilitate this or have a contact number I could reach out to? The FBR seem quite ellusive. Such a frustrating situation, I hope they can speed things up soon. Thanks!

I believe you are supposed to wait for them to contact you requesting any additional documents.

Hello-I am a recent applicant and wondering how long it typically takes to receive "Email acknowledging receipt of documentation Balbriggan". I have postal confirmation of delivery on July 12 2021 but have yet to receive an email from FBR about my documents. I see in other posts that others seem to get an email confirmation around a month or so after sending documents. Should I be concerned? Thanks!

I think you posted in during the “don’t send us your documents” time period so they won’t have acknowledged it back then. As far as I remember they have been acknowledging the documents via email less and less anyway.

By the looks of it you submitted your documents whilst the office was officially closed and whilst they were advising you not to send any documents in. It is my understanding that this is still the case. So, I wouldn't expect anything until they reopen officially as they haven't been communicating with applicants during this time unless they are expecting a child. However, when they do reopen then I would expect them to revert to their normal practice and send the email on the day they receive the documents or the day after. You've just got to sit tight for the time being and hope that they do send you an email confirming they have received your documents when they reopen. But, bear in mind that they will have a huge backlog of people who sent documents in when asked not to so it could take a while to get the confirmation and they also may just decide not to send emails to those who submitted during the office's official closure. We've seen periods of time in the past where people just haven't received confirmation of receipt, so it seems departmental policy fluctuates. If after a couple of weeks of opening you haven't received the email, then you may want to contact them at that point to confirm for yourself.

Thanks to the member who set up the spreadsheet and the people contributing their timelines!

I added my partial timeline too - I submitted the online application for my newborn on 19-sep-2020, however due to some documentation issues, I could not send my docs until the end of December. Tracking shows it was received on 30-Dec-2020, but I haven't received an acknowledgement e-mail yet. Does anyone recall if the office was closed at the end of December 2020 / early January 2021?

Yes the office closed for Covid on Christmas Eve 2020 if I remember correctly and has yet to reopen

Great thanks for confirming!! We have since moved to Ireland and it was a bit of a pain having my son travel as a Canadian. Does anyone know if there's a process to change our address on file with the FBR office, or do we just wait for the address confirmation e-mail? TIA!

You'll just have to wait until you get the confirmation of address email at the end of the process. From what other people have said you just need to send a scanned copy of a document with your new address on it, when the time comes.

Hello Folks, long-time lurker here!

I submitted my documents on 17/03/2020 and other than tracking my package online which confirms it was delivered, I have heard nothing since. This was no bother due to the "situation" but now I am seeing people after me having receipts of their email. Is there still no word on the office opening up or anything I can do to check that they did actually receive my documents?

If tracking shows it is delivered you should be ok - I received the email 18/3/20 but then everything locked down... you can contact them by chat https://www.dfa.ie/about-us/contact-us/ ... tizenship/

Congrats mail arrived - Hopefully things are moving more quickly now. There seemed to be a dearth of August 2019 approvals - so good to see two in close succession. I suspect these were on the verge of being processed back in December 2020 and got caught up in the office closures in the lockdown. May-August of 2019 were the worst affected by my recollection.

So time to get new photos done for the passport application. There's a Photo-Me booth nearby that does the Irish passport digital format/code (1PMI-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx) - for £6 - not bad.

I applied for my passport online and took a selfie on my phone which was accepted on their system.

I was tempted to take my own but have seen a few applicants online had photos rejected and then problems with resubmission and delays. The photo booths (they claim) assess the picture for suitability for the Irish requirements, image head/shoulder, file size/format etc. So I'm hoping to reduce the chance of a problem with Photo-Me being approved by the passport service.

If they reject it - they're getting a selfie :)
