Final update:

Application: 7 June 2020
Documents received: 23 July 2020
Address confirmation: 14 October 2022
Congratulations: 26 October 2022
Certificate received: 14 November 2022 (post is slow to Australia)

In tomorrow's post go my passport application and all the family documents to my sisters so they can start to become officially European again too.

Thank you to everyone on the forum for all the helpful information and the solidarity, not to mention the spreadsheet I tried and failed not to become obsessed by.

Good luck to us all!

So as we’re getting near I’ve dug out my actual dates, rather than just “November” :D

Application submitted online 04/11/2020
Documents delivered (PO tracking) 20/11/2020
Application received email (presumably when the documents were logged?). 09/12/2020

Just got my email!

For one child though. The other has just turned 18, so I wonder if there’ll be an issue as presumably they need to contact her and send her the documents?

Application submitted online 04/11/2020
Documents delivered (PO tracking) 20/11/2020
Application received email (presumably when the documents were logged?). 09/12/2020
Address confirmation 14/10/2022

Anyone got a link to the spreadsheet and I’ll update :)

Too late to edit but I now also have an email for elder child, asking for her email address as she is now an adult :).

Congrats!
Here's the Spreadsheet link

But I've already updated you.

I put your address check date in as 14-11-2022, correct?

Yes sorry 14/11/22. Overexcitement :D

I also got the email with the bit about not being confirmation of success.. “Receiving this email is in no indication of a successful outcome of you application, but by confirming your address you are enabling us to process your application more efficiently”

Doesn't match the spreadsheet on Page 233, the minister gives a much higher (and more promising) figure.....who to believe?!? Fabulous news if the minister is telling the truth.

The minister keeps on saying there will be a "significant reduction in processing times by the end of the year"...

I'm not sure I believe that spreadsheet. It just seems too unlikely that each month there is approx 2k applications for each month in 2021. I would have expected a bit more variability in the figures month on month... But what do I know?!

I know for a fact that there were 5000+ applications between March and May 2021 as my husband and I were 5001 applications apart, so there is some truth in the spreadsheet for those months.

Cool. So based on 5k Oct processing times and that spreadsheet when do you think yours will land? I can't access the spreadsheet atm otherwise I would do the maths myself :-)

I know that the spreadsheet is authentic based on a FOI request. I think the biggest difference in what the minister is saying compared to the spreadsheet is the word "processed". The spreadsheet is clear that only successfully completed applications are counted while it makes sense that the minister would tout all of the applications processed including those that have no entitlement and those which require more paperwork (which we know based on this forum are many with requests for original documents, new pictures, etc.). I also assume that those take more time as additional documents need to be received and processed and the file reopened. It's possible that the word processed also includes these touches on applications making it possible that one application could be "processed" more than once until it is either approved or denied.

The 2021 received numbers and the speed of processing stated by the minister (as well as what we are seeing in this forum) I think support that it's very possible we see January 2022 applications processed in the first half of next year which is a very significant improvement from where we were (from 30 months to under 18 months).

Did you instigate the FOI request?

As I said in my post, "who to believe". Ministers love to fudge the truth, but if the FOI provided these numbers then that's very encouraging.

Wow Jan 2022 at the beginning of next year!? That is a bold prediction and as a Dec 2021 docs submitted person, that makes me happy.

Thanks for confirming where the data came from e.g. FOI request. I am not sceptical thanks to your explanation!

I'm a January 2022 applicant.... that would be absolutely fantastic if true. Part of me finds it hard to believe though.

From the OneDrive data, they've been approving ~2500/month in Oct and the first part of Nov.
There are ~15000 applications between Dec 2020 (work in progress now) and Jan 2022.
If they maintain the pace of 2500 month, they'll clear those 15000 in six months, which puts us around mid June 2023.
It's plausible.

It's a huge improvement. Lets take a moment to acknowlede that. Over the first 9 months of 2022 they averaged ~1000 approvals per month. Oct was ~2500. 2.5x increase.

The numbers for 2022 applications are staggering. ~2400/month. So they're barely keeping even if they maintain this outstanding pace.

The answers from the Minister for Foreign Affairs makes it sound like they have streamlined things enough so they can increase that a lot. Did he really say 5000/month? That would be ~250 per working day.

In 2015 there were only 6000 entries on the FBR in total. Soon they'll be doing nearly that many per month?

Hi All,

Looking for some advice from past applicants.

Application submitted: 15.11.2020
Application received: 14.12.2020

I received a response yesterday 14.11.2022 from DFA Foreign Births Registration Team. Unfortunately, there were a few details missing from my original application. I have now rectified these and sent the required remaining details to them 1st class by post.

Just wondering - has anyone else had their application held up by missing details and if so; how much longer did it hold up the process?

I am praying this won't add another 1-2 years on to the already excruciating wait.

Any response appreciated.

If they contacted you that means they are dealing with your application now. It wont take another 1-2 years. I bet you hear from them in less than a week.

Hi MurrayTA,
I'm in a similar position to you. July 2020 application. FBR reached out to me in October to request another document (I sent the wrong death certificate - doh!) I'm in Australia so it took me a while to get what I needed and have it express posted over to Balbriggan. I was told that none of this would delay the processing of my application and that has been true. I received my address check email last week and now am waiting for, fingers crossed, final approval.

Here's my timeline for you:
12.10.2022 FBR requested a document
1.11.2022 AusPost notified me of delivery of document at Balbriggan
11.11.2022 Address check email

Timelines here on this forum vary from a few days after address check up to 2 weeks afterwards for the approval email.

Fingers crossed for both of us - good luck!

an update!

I received both an address check AND a document request 🙃🥴
I apparently sent in the wrong death certificate...I submitted a Proof of Death Certificate as opposed to a Civil Death Certificate. Once I send that it in, it should be smooth sailing! it's wild to think that the end is in sight 🥰

My timeline:
Oct 17th, 2020: online application
Dec 18th, 2020: documents received
Nov 16, 2022: address check and document request
