One day past the estimated date and application is still under processing.

Has anyone had any luck? I honestly can't believe this lengthy process after having gone almost 3 years of citizenship application.

It boggles the mind. I have never seen such levels of inefficiency.

My application had an estimated issue date of 12/03/2024 and it’s only today that the status changed to Printing.

I'm also super worried about the delay, my estimated issue date is tomorrow but I cannot accommodate a week of delay... I agree that it's mind-blowing how they cannot process even with such long processing times they announce...

Fingers crossed, we'll get there, I'm sure.

There seems to be a pattern here, though. Two people in this topic reported that their status changed to "Printing" exactly two days after the estimated issue date.

I'll report back if the same happens to me tomorrow.

I'll say the first time I applied for a passport in the US the estimate was 12-16 weeks. I could have paid something like double or triple the cost to have it expedited, which would have dropped that estimate down to 4-6 weeks.

As I recall the passport actually arrived after about 18 weeks.

Somehow to me at least being 2 days over on a 20 working day estimate doesn't really seem that bad.

I’m over the week mark:

Estimated issue date: 07 March 2024

Application received: 08 January 2024
Verifying documents: 08 February 2024 (documents posted a week prior to this from overseas)
Processing application: 23 February 2024

When I spoke to the adviser on the Webchat on Monday, they said no one had started looking at my application yet. Witness hasn’t been contacted.

After a month and 4 days since the application, it finally changed to "Printing". No other statuses have come after day and no additional information. No idea how long will it take to "print" and if I will be notified when dispatched.

I had applied on 12-Feb with an estimated issue date of 13-March. Visited passport office on 15-March, and was told that it was in progress and the witness (Gardai) was not contacted yet. They said they can drop a note in my application stating that i need it urgently, however i am not sure if some one will be reading it.

Status is processing application today i.e. on 19-March.

To update, received a request for further information yesterday evening (19 March). Has anyone had experience with this where they have had to wait several weeks for the new information to arrive? The email says the resubmission link will be active for 14 days, however there is next to no chance of me obtaining an original copy of an adoption court order from the English courts in that time period and then send to Dublin.

Does the application become void after those 14 days elapse? It is frustrating as it wasn’t one of the documents listed when applying…

My passport has arrived today. It was a total of 5 weeks from day of submission of the documents to the delivery of the new passport.

5 weeks 3 days for me between posting the supporting documents and my passport arriving - felt like 10 times longer though!

Interestingly I never had any emails with tracking numbers (passport and card were applied for)

The tracking numbers came to light during one of countless views of the tracking page on the DFA site and after my witness let me know 'they' had phoned.

Quite a journey to say the least which started with the FBR application in January of 2023

It must be said again this forum is an invaluable source of information for all of this :D

My passport has been printed yesterday and dispatched. It is due for delivery today. It's being delivered on 21-Mar as supposed to 13-Mar. Not bad though.

Received my passport yesterday. It took a total of 22 months from naturalization application to receiving passport, not far off from the 23 months that the department had advised back then.

Applied: 19/02/24
Processing (checking document): 21/02/24
Processing: 07/03/24
Printing: 26/03/24

I got an email last night asking for clarification on something regarding my birth cert. I replied to it right away, and this morning my passport is being printed.

Just for the record, I sent in a certified copy of my citizenship certificate (stamped and signed by a solicitor), and just a regular photocopy of the front and back of my public service card. I didn't send in my US passport. I did send in my birth cert, plus proof of name and proof of address. For one of those I used the cover letter that came with my naturalisation certificate, since it said that they prefer documents mailed from the government.

So with any luck I should get my passport before Easter. :)

Congrats! Would you mind if I ask, did you send your birth cert as a certified copy or the original?

I'm thinking of sending the translated copy I used in the naturalisation application ,but I'm not sure if it will work. It's shocking they need to ask for this and not just the naturalisation cert...

I sent my original copy of my birth cert in. If your original is not in English I believe you need to send both it and a registered translation. But I'll admit I'm just going off of memory of something I wasn't really paying that much attention to as mine is in English. It might be worth checking with them via either calling or doing a web chat.

And yeah, I was a little surprised that they need both the naturalisation cert and a birth cert. Since having the naturalisation cert means that they've already checked out your birth cert. But then again they had a problem with my birth cert that required they contact me, while no one ever needed to when I was applying for citizenship. So who knows.

I sent both the original and translation as well - guy on the webchat said they need the original.

To be fair, with online process I don't think a physical cert is sent to ISD nowadays, and sinde they can't even verify a copy of naturalization cert, there's not much information sharing between ISD and DFA.

Valid, though I was more meaning that you can't have a naturalisation certificate unless the government has checked out your birth cert, so asking for both is a bit silly. Like asking for both your passport and a birth cert.

Has anyone successfully sent a certified colour copy instead of their physical passport?

This is a thread for Irish passport applications, where you can send a PSC instead of original passport.

Are you sure you're in the right thread?
