Ireland Citizenship Application / Old traffic fines outside EU

Post by Microndia007 » Mon Jul 05, 2021 10:23 pm

Hi,

I am planning to apply to Irish Naturalization. I had some traffic offences 6 years ago outside EU. These fines were paid. I dont remember exact details and dont have receipts etc.

Should it be disclosed on the nationality application?

Yes, you must disclose those as per question 11.1 on the form:

"Have you ever committed any offences against the laws of Ireland or any overseas country?"

Give details of the offences, request copies of receipts. People mistakenly think that offences commited outside of Ireland or the EU cannot be discovered by the DOJ. The Department works with different agencies inside and outside of the Ireland. If they find out later about those, your citizenship application can be rejected, or if granted, the citizenship certificate will be revoked.
