Hiya,

My tracker is stuck on passport being printed status since 13th September last. Is this normal?

I have been on to Web agents 3-4 times and they could not be more useless. They are repeating what the tracker is saying and I am anxious as I need to travel urgently to arrange a knee operation for my mum.

I wish I could arrange a letter, but it is impossible for me, as my mum lives in a small village. Any kind of help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I applied on 29/06/2021, documents were received and status changed to "processing" on 12/07/2021 with passport issue date of 4/08/2021. I asked for an update on my application through the webchat today and was told that my documents have not even been scanned yet, 6 weeks since "processing" has began.
I guess 8 weeks more like a timeline for May-June applications.
I got an update that my passport was dispatched on 14/09/2021. 9 weeks from starting the processing to dispatching the passport.
Original documents submitted for passport application have been returned today, 1 week after the passport received.

Applied on 23rd July.
Checked with customer chat regarding the status . Received this reply

"Your supporting documents are scanned onto our system and the application is currently awaiting being assigned to a checker to go through the final security checks."

Does it mean they will go through the birth certificate document again?

Timeline
Application for Irish passport (1st time)

Online-Application:22/07/2021
Documents received: 23/07/2021 and changed to processing
Expected due date: 27/09/2021
On 21/092021(Yesterday) at around past 3pm I chatted with them online that my application was already 40+1 working days and was told there's no update on my application. I told the guy that since my application was already 41Working days they need to finalized it which he totally agreed and told me that he'll send them message in order to complete it yesterday but if they need any further document(s) they'll email me. At 5:31pm yesterday I received email which was expected that they can't add my birth surname as Requested but can only put my marriage name for now that I can change it at my convenient time in future if I wish. At 5:45pm i replied to their email that they can issued it with my marriage name attached my marriage certificate to the email hoping they'll reset it to another 10working days according to the received email but to my greatest surprised this morning my tracking changed to passport book being printed, this afternoon my passport is being dispatched and passport card being printed by 4:35pm.

Hi everyone

Hopefully someone can help me.
I have applied for my son's first time application and today it appeared on tracker and showing estimated date 29th of December 2022.
I applied 20th of June 2021 from Karachi, Pakistan paper application.
couple of days later received a call from Irish consulate asking for FRC and Nadra Juvenile card which I sent them after week.
16th of August received a call from Irish consulate asking for Nadra marriage certificate, Nadra birth certificate for my son and Nadra birth certificate for myself. I explained the officer that we live in Azad Kashmir and Nadra does not issue these certs in this area but he insisted on getting a letter from Nadra so I ended up providing affidavit on 24th of August. Today I checked the tracker and it appeared on the system says processing but estimated issue date in December 29, 2022 I contacted the web chat and they said they don't know hopefully it wouldn't take that long. I am really worried as they have my son's original passport and all original documents and we are planning to travel in November.
Can someone please shed some light on this matter.
Thanks you

As expected, after 7 days notice my solicitor contacted passport office and said that she is taking them to High Court on the basis of them discriminating against Pakistani Irish nationals and with a proof of letter from Pakistani ambassador that Pakistani government is not asking for any further documents, I got an email response that my passport booklet is printing and the solicitor was asked to give them 2 days and I will have my passport and now the status is also changed on the tracking to printing .It shows how lazy and disorganised this passport office is ,I was able to press them because I have means but think what they will do to people who are refugees and have different social circumstances

Applied 30/06/2021
Got an email on 7th September asking for national identity card and Family registration certificate for being a Pakistani national ,both of them are not required as per the website .I still sent them on but they pushed my application processing to 11th November so that's why I contacted the solicitor

Dr for this update
I was in a similar situation
I applied via only and all documentation was received 1 week of may
It took them 4 months after the intervention of my local TD that prompted them that I needed to verified my birth certificate and established my nationality.(they have my original passport and birth cert) I have done everything they asked me to do now and my application is still in processing after 5 months. This official in passport office are acting god. the minister will grant someone naturalisation, then they will begin to do their own discrimination and undermining the minister in the name of carrying out extra security. I wish I can get the number of this solicitor. Imagine from April to date no passport

Not on their website or part of the requirement that birth certificate needed to be verified before making application. This is just frustrating! its being 5 months now.

An update on my status:

Online application: 18 May 2021
Documents received: 28 June 2021 (got stuck in the USPS system for 5 weeks)
Status changed to 'processing': 01 July 2021
Estimated issue date: mid-August 2021
Request for additional documentation: 06 September 2021*
Resubmitted Documents received: 15 September 2021
Status changed to 'processing' again: 23 September 2021
Estimated issue date: 22 November 2021
Received identity documents back: 21 September 2021

*requested marriage certificate showing name change and identity doc showing full middle name, not just an initial. I had submitted marriage cert for FBR...for those preparing your passport documents, if you had a name change, send the marriage cert along just in case!

Hi all

Just a quick question please, How long does the checker take to approve first time passport application?

I have been told that my application has already been scanned and it’s assigned to a checker now.

Thanks:)

Can I please ask a question. I live in the US. Applying for a passport with my FBR. Its asking for a government issued photo ID. Obviously I do not want to send the original. Can I make a copy and have it notarized? Also, can I send a copy of my US Passport notarized?

Thank You!!!!!
Hi Pgm888- curious to know if you sent your original passport or a notarized copy?

To not hijack this post I created a new one to gather information from people recent experience on using a certified passport copy to apply for the Irish passport hopefully that clarifies the query you have I am in the same boat and I am sure many others are.

Hi Everyone,
Posting here as the admin seem to think that this query is covered it certainly is not clear and I believe does warrant it own post! Hope this does not get censored two.
I have been reading the poste about weather the first time application can be made with a Certified Passport Copy some post suggest that it's possible and some say that the passport office in some cases has requested the original one and reset the clock of the application.
Has anyone made an an application with a Certified Passport copy (certified by a Solicitor) fairly recently and had his passport printed ? Similarly has anyone been denied the Certified Passport Copy and had to send the original subsequently. It would be good to have that clarified for new applicant as the original passport document is now tied for 3 months with the passport office.
Many Thanks

Hi,

I had the same questions when I applied as I couldn’t afford to give up my original passport for 2-3months. I’m an Australian living in Sweden.

So I ended up using a certified copy of my passport, getting it certified by the Swedish police.

I applied in mid July and they received my documents 23rd July. Yesterday the 27th Sep the tracking changed to printing, then later on to dispatched for my passport.

Based on this, I think it is possible to use a certified copy of your passport, but it could very much depend on the person reviewing your application. As I had webchatted with 3 different people and 2 said I needed an original passport and 1 said it should be no problems with a certified copy.

I can give an update on when I actually have my Irish passport. But it does seem possible to use a certified copy. Although I was nervous I would of had to of submitted my original and then wait the 40 days again.

My Timeline for reference:
========================
# Online Application-----------: 8th July 2021
# Documents Received--------: 26th July 2021
# Estimated Issue Date--------: 28th September 2021

Spoke to the webchat yesterday and although my issue date is today the documents have only just been scanned. Anyone know how long it goes from scanning to printing ?

Hopefully with the offices opening in October things might speed up, but 8 weeks / 40 days for a first time passport online doesn't seem to be accurate for most of us

It has to be assigned to checker and after security check then only it will go to printing...Mine was pending check since last week.. I guess it will take easily 3 weeks from scanning.
