Hey just checked with online chat, the below is the response.

We have verified all your documents, the application is on the waiting list to be checked, we will soon be contacting your witnesses

I guess calling Garda will take sometime...

What frustration!

I received an email today to say I need to re-submit my identity verification form.

I provided the details of my friend's wife who is a solicitor. However, they just happened to be on holiday this week in an area with no reception when they tried to call. Obviously they couldn't get through. As such, it's been flagged that I must re-submit.

Does anyone know if I can just re-submit the same witness again? They will be back home/in office from tomorrow onwards, so should be able to take calls again.

Sorry, further to my post above, the email says: "Once your reply is received and the issue is resolved, we will aim to process your application within the standard turnaround time.", does that mean I am again going to have to wait another 2 months?

Use the online chat and ask them directly. You might just ask them to contact the witness again and see if they can do that. It's safer than someone giving you a wrong answer here.

Yep, just did actually. Should have done that initially.

They've said i'm free to submit the same person again, but the onus is on me to make sure they're available... which I understand. Difficult to tell someone to be available 5 days a week, 9-5 for 2 months though ha. Apparently they only called once.

I asked about timeline, they've said the 40 day turnaround time resets, but I won't have to wait the 2 months again.

Usually solicitors would leave an office phone number that is available during work hours. If they themselves aren't available, the call would be redirected to someone like a trainee or receptionist that has access to the system.

Same here. In my case, witness was a Garda who filled out the Identity Verification Form. Other than that, I did not give any other name for witnesses.

Hi Alex

I wish you the best on your application and I really hope you Don't have to go back to queue again. But please Don't get your hopes up. The same happen to me, they wanted me to re-submit a document, I was told I won't have to wait another 8 weeks, but unfortunately I did and I am still waiting.
I am only sharing this because I know how it feels to have your hopes crushed.

Applied : 18th June
Passport received - 17th Aug
Card Received - 18th Aug
Original docs: yet not received (perhaps in 10 days)

Took exactly 2 months on dot! I conclude my naturalization journey here.
Thanks to this forum and its members (each and everyone)

Hope you all have a wonderful life. Love

Your applications are from within the state (APS1). Alex’s application is from abroad (APS2).

It can be zero, one, two or three. Three is a bit unusual but can happen occasionally.

Can I please ask a question. I live in the US. Applying for a passport with my FBR. Its asking for a government issued photo ID. Obviously I do not want to send the original. Can I make a copy and have it notarized? Also, can I send a copy of my US Passport notarized?

Thank You!!!!!

Original passport is required as part of the identity verification process. You can try to send a certified copy, but they may reject it and demand the original.

Yes. A certified copy of passport is accepted. Just to note that only the passport can be a certified copy. All other documents (proofs of address, birth certificates etc) must be originals.
