Options - what next?

Post by Tersia2010 » Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:52 am

Hi everyone

My mother's 5 year eufam visa will expire in a few months, we have applied for citizenship, but her application is still being processed.

Should we apply for a visa extension? permanent residence?

thank you

When did you submit the application? What stage is it at?
Unless your application is at an advanced stage, you should renew your GNIB as normal.

Yes, INIS will want a valid GNIB (IRP) card once the citizenship is approved.

Also she must have a valid permission to remain in the State at all times while the naturalisation application is being processed.

Given the delays with the naturalisation applications nowadays I would suggest to renew your mother's current Stamp 4 EU FAM.

Book an appointment with INIS and do a renewal of Stamp 4EUFAM. If you get an approval and ceremony date before the appointment date, you can simply cancel the appointment.

Long term residency and/or permanent residency are time consuming as well and may cost more.
