Please help

Post by Maganda » Wed May 22, 2019 6:31 am

Hi all,

I'm EU Citizen (Croatia) living in Ireland and I got married to non EU national (Hong Kong) who will join me in Ireland in a month. She has a minor criminal record (smoking weed), it happened more then 10 years ago so my question is if her VISA will be refused because of that minor offence. There was no jail time, just a fine.

Thank you

Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal, but that’s just me. If you watch Border Security UK/US/AU you will see that visa officers and border officers see these people every day, and in most cases it is fine albeit a more time consuming process is warranted.

Did she receive an on-the-spot fine, or was she convicted in court? Apparently a court conviction is more concerning.
