In the meantime, I decided to book accommodation in Killarney anyway. There is the possibility to cancel with no charge up to one week before date of staying. Accommodation prices are normal on the week before and the week later, while they are dearer around those days.
I also have booked the hotel in Killarney last week.

But most chances are that I have to cancel it one week before the Sept ceremony.
Any news since? Almost there but not sure

Hi All

I call today and told her that I already book the hotel for the ceremony so let me know its going ahead or no.

she said that officially we have no news but We haven't printed the naturalization certificates yet so most chances is that the ceremony will not going to happen.

I said will it possible the ceremony in Oct or Dec.

She said we are working on court ruling and it will decided after that.

Why not just update the website and be done with it?

The lack of transparency surrounding INIS and the citizenship process as a whole is disgraceful.

Just got through to the helpline.

It's very possible that Septembers ceremony is still going ahead :o

At this stage it's very hard to believe anything they say.

Mine is still awaiting signoff from the minister either way.

Did they give any more detail about why that may be so, or did it sound more like hopeful speculation?

Hi Markem,

I applied in December 2018.
I thought this forum was for everybody waiting to participate in the Ceremony regardless of year of application?

Yes, this thread is about the ceremony. But it would be useful for other members to know how long your application took.

No problem.
I applied in December 2018. The application was approved in June 2019. I sent payment and photographs straight away. Now waiting for the invitation letter.

I send email to inis and today I get below reply

Dear Aneel

Thank you for your email. The Minister wants to assure people that we are
doing everything possible to put in place a solution on an urgent basis in
relation to the High Court Ruling in July 2019. The Minister has taken
expert legal advice and he intends to introduce legislation to address the
issue that has arisen in the recent High Court citizenship judgment on the
law governing applications for citizenship.

At the end of July, the Minister obtained Cabinet approval for a proposed
Bill and intensive work is taking place in this Department where officials
are working with the Office of Parliamentary Counsel in the Attorney
General’s Office to finalise a draft Bill.

The Minister intends to introduce the Bill in the Oireachtas as soon as the
Houses of the Oireachtas return to session. He knows that colleagues of
all parties are concerned with the difficulty that has arisen and he is
hopeful that the Oireachtas will give the Bill early and positive
consideration.

As soon as the Bill becomes law, the Department officials will make all
necessary arrangements for the next Citizenship Ceremony. Invitations will
issue at least four weeks in advance of the ceremony to ensure everyone has
adequate notice.

Regards

If everyone needs to be informed 4 weeks in advance, the September ceremony will not likely go ahead.

Then they should update the website accordingly, as some people have made travel arrangements etc

I mean, this is just a nonsense. The date when the Dail will reconvene is a matter of public record. If 4 weeks notice is to be given then September 30th was never going to happen. Why then say in their July statement that they were planning for the ceremony to take place as normal?!! They really have no clue.

To be fair people have been given as little as two days advance. Most of the approvals I’ve seen people got them 3 weeks advance and 2 weeks. Anything is possible with these people. That email was them just covering their bases

INIS and this particular minister are constantly lying to people.

Text of earlier email now on website, in the form of a ministerial update.

Anyone know how long it takes for an unopposed bill to become law?
