I received my invitation at 2pm on 26th February, 2023... lol. I should be there at 1pm for registration as instructed.

The email mentioned that the certificate will be sent by post within a few weeks. Hopefully, that's just a typo like the date (26th February 2023) as it's from an old template and will align with what's on the official website!
Naturalization certificates won't be handed out - they'll be sent, as per official website.

Certificates of naturalisation will issue by registered post at a later date.

That's disappointing! I wish they hadn't secretly changed the wording.

Well there’s another two months tacked on to my timeline after the ceremony. :(

Do you think these ceremony invitations are being sent in batches, or individually?

My wife received an email stating this before Christmas:

"A Citizenship Certificate Fee was processed on 21/12/2023. You will receive a letter from this office in due course regarding the final stage of your Citizenship application."

Just looking at some of the timeline posts and seems people who paid and processed on later dates have already got the invitation for Feb ceremony.

Am worried my wife's application has been passed over/lost...I can't think of any reason for any further delay, as once that fee is processed surely there can be nothing left except the ceremony?

P.S. the quote from the email says we would get a letter. but seems this is actually email now for ceremony invites as a rule?

Hi Chriswickstead

If it’s any consolation, my husband is in exactly the same boat. His payment was processed on 20 December. And so far no invitation.
I too was desperately hoping they’re issuing them in batches….!

what a nightmare @Helen... at least maybe it shows that we are potentially not isolated and 'lost' cases

You're definitely not alone, I originally applied in 09/2021, my fee was processed on 13/12/2023, and I still haven't had any invite for a ceremony.

When do you reckon the next one will be? April?

This one is at the end of February, which looking at the past ceremonies, is normally in early March since they added a few extra last year due to the backlog.

Therefore I would say the next one would be around the May/June timeframe.

I’m really curious how they decide whom to invite. You would assume it would be first-come-first-served and yet, as we’ve seen, that’s not the case. Could it be that the selection process is completely random?

It doesn't make any sense...I can see people in the 2022 applications timeline who both applied and paid/processed the €950 fee after us. The only logical reason I can think of to not be in this ceremony if is they are doing it by initial application date. But that is not what they are doing. I completely despair about this process.

Nobody fully understands much of this process in terms of how the department makes their decisions. There is also very little transparency about it and nearly impossible to get detailed information about your application status.

It’s supposed to be in chronological order, but we’ve seen numerous instances where that wasn’t the case. To be fair, each application is going to be different and take longer or shorter to complete.

I’m just relieved to be nearly done with it all.

I hope they do for the sake of others getting through this, but I would not count on it as that would be highly unusual.

On second thought, you were probably referring to the assumption we were all making that the next ceremony would be in March as it has been in the past. For some reason this one was pulled into February, perhaps due to venue availability.

That said, I would assume the next one will likely be in June (possibly pulled into May) as historically scheduled.

Clutching at straws here but I couldn’t help
noticing that a couple of people on this thread received invitations to the December ceremonies as late as Thursday 14 December! ie just 5 days before the last ceremony on 19 December.
Hope springs eternal…..

One of them was my partner. The entire thing was last minute down to the approval coming in the post which required the payment and picture uploaded that same day and ceremony invitation received only a few days prior to the event.

It’s still not impossible to receive an invite this week (last minute) for the ceremony on the 26th.

I am hearing that there will be one in March, most likely during St. Patrick's Week. This will most likely be in RDS. My letter stated that if I wanted to be considered for the upcoming ceremony, I needed to pay the fees within 28 days. I paid the fees, but it has yet to be processed, despite the fact that this is the start of my third week. I'm hoping that some magic happens here and they process and add me to the Feb 26 one, but the chances look slim. However, the news about one in March is quite promising!!

Should I send them an email asking them to process my fees and request that I be included in the ceremony next week?

I personally think it's not a good idea to send them an email at this point because it will not change anything and will only create extra work for them.
And there is no such thing as a "request" to be included in the upcoming ceremony as well.
In all communications, they have stated not to contact them unless it's absolutely necessary.

For example, this is from the announcement of the upcoming ceremony:
https://www.irishimmigration.ie/upcomin ... -ceremony/

"Please do not contact us in this regard as we are not in a position to confirm invitations at this stage."

I understand that waiting can be frustrating, especially when seeing other people's applications progress much faster. However, it seems they've been making some improvements, and they deserve to be cut some slack. We’ll wait and see what happens this year.

True but I i guess they way this department functions is above everyone's head. I spoke to my solicitor and she said she will send them a letter today. So lets see! Citizenship department has never disappointed in giving me the exact reason when they receive a letter from my solicitor. No harm in doing it!!

I am not sure about you, but it will be 25 months if I am not invited to this ceremony.
