Maybe this will help. I am also suffering from this painful waiting period it's been 26 months, I have not received a decision on my application and then my solicitor advised me to send them a Judicial Review Notice.
We sent a notice to the department on 20th March 2024 and received a reply on 29th March 2024 in which they mentioned that they are preparing my application for submission to the minister and asked us not to bring them in court for Judicial Review and They also committed a timeline of 12 weeks in which they will complete my application process.
Let's see if they will respect their 12-week timeline. I will update here as soon as I hear from them.
@Fred: This is the one which your solicitor needs to send. I think the contents of this letter and mine are the same but mine had Pre-Litigation written on the top. Once your solicitor send this letter, you will get a reply straightaway and trust me, they give you a 12 weeks notice in the letter but they process it in 2 to 3 weeks.

Congrats man that you go the reply from them. Hoping you get the approval soon and get done with this waiting game.
Hi there, Thanks for the reply. My solicitor already has sent a letter, i emailed them and asked them to see if the letter has that heading "Pre-Litigation" .. I hope it has that heading ... fingers crossed...

So is getting a solicitor to send a pre-litigation letter the way to go? I really do not want to miss this next ceremony. I’m genuinely sick of the whole process as it is. Getting a solicitor to do that seems to be quite expensive as well.

I’m sick of the process too but I don’t see how everyone sending pre-litigation letters is going to help speed things up.
When did you receive your approval letter, Kmosgirl?
My husband received his in December and the payment was processed on 20 December.
We were very disappointed that he didn’t receive an invitation to the February ceremony (about 1,200 attendees)
Am hoping that the next one will be much bigger.
If it’s any consolation, I’m fed up too!

This is really a last resort in my opinion and likely only useful if you’ve surpassed the 26 month (or whatever was stated) timeframe.

Really sorry that he didn’t get an invite for February considering his decision letter came in December. That is certainly strange.

It’s a horribly slow and the lack of transparency is the worst part in my opinion. I attended the February ceremony and still waiting for my naturalisation certificate nearly two months later. In fact, I don’t think they have issued any from that ceremony. For over a month now the only answers I’ve received from their help desk is that it will be issued in the coming weeks which is not entirely accurate. I just want this process to end!

I’ve requested a TD to submit a parliamentary question to the Minister about my certificate and that happened last week. I don’t expect to gain full transparency, but it forces them to answer the question on the public stage.

Yikes! Now you’ve got me worried. I was under the impression that we weren’t the only ones expecting to get an invitation to the Feb ceremony but who didn’t. I know some people had their payments processed after us and yet received invitations (yourself included, no?). But I’ve been consoling myself that we’re not alone!

I do think it’s strange but it doesn’t mean you’re alone. It was a rather small ceremony in comparison to previous ones so perhaps it was just a cutoff point.

I received my decision letter at the end of December and submitted my online payment immediately. However my payment wasn’t processed until early February (email received from department). Did you receive that payment processed email yet? It’s two different things.

If you have received it and the department help desk isn’t “helping” you, then I would suggest that you request a TD to put in a PQ on your behalf.

We received the payment processed email on 20 December.
We’re abroad so unfortunately we don’t have a TD.
Any idea whom which email address we should use, to send a polite inquiry? I’ll put my husband’s application no. in the subject line.
Thanks in advance!

I would send one email to both of these email addresses:

customersupport@citizenship.cloud.gov.ie
citzenshipinfo@justice.ie

You can still request a TD to support you. The one that’s been assisting me isn’t even located in my county. Unfortunately other TD’s (in my county) never responded to me, but this one has been incredibly helpful all along this process.

Not really, it’s kind of a gamble. I found the ones questioning these type of things in the Dail debates online are your best bet.

Just write up your message, email a few and see who responds.

The pre-litigation letter is only useful if 19 months have passed, since it's not fair for some people to get approval within the time limit while others get it way past 19 months. My case had been going on for more than two years, and my solicitor suggested that we send this letter because it had been used to help people whose applications had been held up for over 19 months. It worked for me and the people I talked to.

I also got a letter at the end of Jan that made it clear that I needed to pay the fees right away if I wanted to be considered for the ceremony on Feb 26. But those people are so lazy that they processed my fees the day before and sent me an email saying that I would defo be included in the next one!

Did you ask your solicitor if the letter she send was a pre-litigation one? If it was the usual letter then you know they harldy every get back to it. They would only acknowledge it and then put in the usual "Your clients application is currently being processed with a view to establish whether it has met all the statutory requirements et al".

I got approved in the second week of Feb and paid the fees which was processed as well. We both have the same timelines and its highly unfair one gets and the other one waits. Could you try ring your solicitor up and ask if they can chase them with the letter I have been talking about? At this stage, just try everything you can. One month left in the next ceremony. You can still turn things around!!

Hi all. Does anyone have a rough idea as to when the next ceremony will take place?

My wife is hoping to get accepted to the next one (still awaiting Approval letter/email), but we will be out of the country from the 27th May - 7th June and are hoping it does not clash with these dates.

Do they usually inform attendees a month or 2 in advance, or is closer to a week or 2 in advance?

Ceremonies are announced on this website:

https://www.irishimmigration.ie/upcomin ... -ceremony/

No-one has any information on when next one is scheduled except through this website. Obviously they are still referencing the Feb ceremony, so no news on next ones.

Some people reference last years’ schedule as a hint to future plans but you can never tell if they’ll stick with the same. The ‘23 Dec and ‘24 Feb didn’t align with previous years, so I’m not sure looking backwards helps.

Though if it helps plan- if she hasn’t got an approval letter yet, chances of her being invited to next one are slim. There is an enormous backlog of historic approvals who haven’t been invited to a ceremony yet. All that said- very little of what they do is predictable, so who knows? It’s such a (painful and irritating) black box.

Those without an historic approval who do get invited are often given a week to 48 hours notice, as they are tending to back-fill declined spaces.

As above, no-one knows until they are published on the govt website. Some people’s approvals are coming with a 10 day payment timeline which usually indicates a ceremony is about a month to 6 weeks away.

Would that mean the people who pay within the 10-day timeline will be invited to the next ceremony? My wife has received hers today and paid straight away (application started on 8th May 2023)

If so, and it clashes with our planned time out of the country, is it a big deal to postpone until the next ceremony?

There are also some people who pay within timeframe and don’t get invited. If you need to decline the invitation, then you need to decline. You can’t influence when you will be réinvited though - it’s a yes/no response. Most decliners find they aren’t reinvited until a few ceremonies later, but then again - some get on the next one. None of the process makes sense or is efficient, and the ceremony invitation is no exception.

Does your letter state how early you have to pay the fees or something along those lines? Mine said if you wish to be considered in the upcoming ceremony then I need to pay the fees within 28 days.
