Well,I personally know of someone who got a spousal work permit as the wife of a work permit holder, though not in the E.U spouse category.

Unfortunately a lot of companies are not prepared at all to go through this. Very often as soon as companies hear the word work permit they are not intrested anymore. That's from my wifes experience, and she has a very good background.

Quite a lot of people on here were aware about this from previous discussions, but it seems noone yet managed to get a workpermit in this context or to convince a company to sponsor them.
I have... I am starting the new job on Monday and the new employer said he is more than happy to do what it takes to get me to work there :) Also 2 other forum members already have theirs sorted. Desperation, I think, creates drive to get stuff done.

Congrats Static!!! :D I hope you enjoy your new job.

I have my fingers crossed about a job here in Cork. Now that I have this new information about the spousal work permit, I know that it's a little easier for them to hire me!

Salary for work permit

Post by groebben123 » Wed Jun 13, 2007 2:21 pm

Hi,

I just read the messages here in the forum and I want to give you an information who isn't really said until now (I guess most of you already know, but anyway). 2 weeks ago I got following news by email:

"When submitting a work permit application for a spouse of an EEA national, the €30,000 salary does not apply."

So, if you are a Spouse from a EU national the salary doesn't really matter. Got news in bad times, isn't it :S?

and how long work permit will take ?
Can you change jobs immediately ?
what if you become un employed ?
do you have to renew every year ?
If you have kids what nationalty will they be ?
If you live here 5 years will you ger Permenant residence ?
How will health system deal with you ?
Can you travel freely between EEA ?
What rights you will loose as having a work permit which you could have if you have spouce visa 5 years ?
what if u become un employed at the end of the work permit ?

etc etc etc

There are loads of questions.Getting workpermit is not a permenant solution until all the above is addressed.
its just like swapping one problem for another !

I'm with you, runie80. Seems like we are always ending up with more questions than answers. :?

I find that really odd...question 16 on the employment permit application asks
16. Is the proposed Employee married to an Irish or EEA national? Yes No

You must now attach the documents outlined in Part Six under “Employee Requirementsâ€

Gee whiz stmani you nearly gave me a heart attack :) Thank goodness it's not because your mate was an EU spouse. Sorry that they were denied though.

So I have one question, say that you are granted a work pemrmit because you are waiting for the EU1, once denied can you just continue with the work permit until the situation is sorted?
i called the DETE and the girls than answer the phone was worst than thoe DoJ, only yes and no answers...excellent so I really miss many points...hope you can make itclear for me thx

yes, you can continue with your work permit if you wish to even though your application for eu1 was denied but the change would be to pay work permit fees!!! which is €1500.00

Still, I haven't seen anything in writing. Although I like dealing with the Dept of Enterprise much better than the DoJ, the following website about workpermits doesn't state a-ny-thing about spouse of EU-nationals working in Ireland. http://www.entemp.ie/labour/workpermits/

What am I missing here, who has more information on Workpermit for spouse of EU-nationals working in Ireland???

I have heard from the employers that Spousal Work Permit is actually taking up to 2 months to be processed is that true? I mean the girl in DETE told me mine would be fast tracked and will take 2 weeks. Is there any diference between the spousal work permit and that we are asking for? or is it the same :?

I think it's different and.. also it should be faster. I should know soon enough......... I heard from others that they generally take around 2 weeks to get back to you.
