Irish Associations

Hi,

I have applied for naturalisation based on Irish Associations (as defined in the Irish Citizenship Act) to my father who is a naturalised Irish Citizen, i am over 21 years old but it doesn't really state any age in the act or on the application form, i know it's the minister's absolute discretion but i have 3 years contineous residency here in Ireland on stamp 4, so it's just a matter of waiving 2 out of the 5 years standard residency requirement. i would be grateful to hear your opinions, experiences and if it would be successful or not and whether it takes less time to process than standard 5 years?

I think you should be under the age of 18 to claim citizenship based on your father's naturalisation...May be i could be wrong..Some one else could comment on that...

Many thanks for your reply but i think that's part c of section 16 where the applicant is a naturalised Irish citizen acting on behalf of a minor child of the applicant and i think a minor child automatically somehow follow his parent.
but 16 (A) states where the applicant is of Irish descent or Irish associations; and in part (2) it states For the purposes of this section a person is of Irish associations if—
(a) he or she is related by blood, affinity or adoption to a person who is an Irish citizen or entitled
to be an Irish citizen.
