Irish Defacto Visa?

Post by kimmyphil » Sun Nov 27, 2005 7:56 am

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could please help me in regards
to my possible options of residing in Ireland. I am
currently living in Australia with my Irish partner. I
worked in Ireland for one year and have used my
Holiday working visa already. My partner and I have a
Legal Defacto Australian Visa which entitles him to
reside and work freely within Australia. We are
returning to Ireland for the XMAS for 3 weeks holiday,
my partner's father is not well and we may have to
stay in Ireland longer. I was wondering if Ireland
have anything equivilent to the Australian Defacto
visa or what my options would be if I need to stay on
and work and reside in Ireland longer. Any information
would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if the Republic of Ireland has any immigration category for unmarried partners. You should initially talk to the nearest Irish Embassy. Failing that write to your Member of Parliament (or whatever they're called there) in the Republic of Ireland.
