Irish domicile and taxes

Post by user234894 » Fri Dec 20, 2024 10:34 am

I got naturalised last year. I was under the impression that, for this reason, I had to start filing my tax return as Irish domiciled due to naturalisation. I did this in my 2023 tax return, but upon further research I found I did not necessarily have to.

I had filed tax returns as non-domiciled for a number of years previously.

Given domicile affects how much tax I pay, I'd like to correct what I submitted and change it back to non-domiciled.

Has anyone had any experience requesting Revenue to edit a tax return which was already submitted? Or should I just file again as non-domiciled next year and see what questions they ask?

I am looking for a tax consultant to get advice on this, but wanted to check if anyone here has had any experience with this type of thing.

Thanks
