Irish Naturalisation Application at the time of No job

Hi all,

I have recently joined this forum and want to see how active its members are to participate on this topic and I'm writing this post on behalf of my friend.

He is completing his 60 months (on Stamp 4 - ICT) in Ireland at the end of this month (January'2011) but he has been jobless since end of November 2010 (nearly two months). Just to let you know he has never been on Social benefit.

Would you please share your experience if any of you or anyone you know have applied for naturalisation in same situation or wait until you got a job? If you have applied in same situation then what financial documents you have submitted with Irish Naturalisation Applicaiton and what was outcome from Department of Naturalisation when they would have sent receipt/confirmation? Was there any negative outcome or was it just normal?

As you all know job situation is not great and nobody knows when can get a job? So, would you recommend to apply for naturalisation on completion of recockonable 60 months even if he doesn't have job or should wait till he gets job?

On Form 8 for Irish Naturalisation in column 10. (Means of Support), it is mentioned if you are 10.1 EMPLOYED, RETIRED, STUDYING, UNEMPLOYED, OTHERS
on top of that, more explation has mentioned to:
- Copy of documentation from Revenue Commissioners regarding tax affairs if employed.
- Copy of Pay slips for the previous 3 months if employed.

If he should apply now, could he send his last three months' payslips (September, October & November' 2010) with P60 or P21 of last 5 years?

Your friend is applying being a permit holder and completing 60 months. It is mentioned on INIS website that the person be of good character and not burden on state so if he is going to draw welfare he is not going to be in a good position to get naturalization.

I strongly suggest to wait and first get a job then apply for it, as when he is applying he has to submit his recent payslips etc with the application anyway, by not sending it will make his application look weak. OR he can send the application with the documents you mentioned and hope it is accepted (they are pretty quick in acknowledgement so he will know where he stand). And once get a job send his new payslips quoting his application reference number and they will stick it on his file.

I agree with fatty patty. It'll be better to wait until your friend gets a job, as they have to send 3 recent payslips.

Also, I'd suggest your friend to apply for LTR. I don't think they need payslips when applying for LTR.
