No I am not. I am currently in India. I know the next reply would be that I have to be in UK but I know of my friends who got job in UK sitting here in India.

Not gonna happen in today's market - in fact most of the work is outsourced now - to India!

So if you know people have got jobs sitting in India and you have friends who got such jobs then I dont understand what you are asking a forum of strangers this question?

It may make sense to ask your friends as they will give you a detailed answer of what they had to go through, how they went about getting interviews and what they did to get that final offer. I am confused why you are asking it here when your own friends have been successful

Well they were in to SIP mobile app development while i am into systems administration. Though i am in touch with them as well but they are fairly new and are just coming out of the recession season. The idea of posting this message was to ask other members who are in UK for some time now and would know more then my friends.

Anyways point taken that the market is slow and most of the sys admin jobs are actually being outsourced to india

Well Innu,

Jobs for System Admins are really scarce. Moreover, most companies that need skilled System Admins have actually outsourced their work to bigger Consultancies through Managed Service etc
So really good jobs in this domain are very difficult to find and even if you do so, the salaries offered dont justify leaving a good role and coming out here.

From personal experience, my close friend who is a Sys Admin just got into one of the big product companies in Blore and earns Rs 8 lakhs - he just has about 4 yrs experience. He was in the UK for a while on a Work Permit in 2009 and tested the waters but was very unsuccessful here. The roles were quite basic and the salaries in the range of £28k -£32k with possible shift allowance. So here's a marker for you to further understand the situation in the UK. My buddy decided best to go back and get a role with decent pay and good scope of growing across other domains.

All the best
