Job options : MBA in Finance, 3 years of Mutual Funds sales

Post by everhappy007 » Sun Sep 16, 2007 4:11 pm

I will be moving to London on HSMP by the end of this month. I seek your help in suggesting job options for my wife in the UK.
Qualifications:
1. MBA in finance from a mediocre institute in India
2. 3 years of sales experience in Mutual Funds in India
3. Good customer facing and communication skills

She is open to any decent job in retail banking, customer services, sales support, helpdesk etc.

Could you please suggest the job options for her?

I would be frank in accepting that she is not hoping for a very highly paying job. ANy decent job that can fetch 1500 pounds pa and upwards should be fine.

Thanks

I don`t work in the financial sector but think the chances of finding a decent job in banking would be quite difficult, given the current climate..the financial sector in this country is thoroughly shafted with no immediate resolution in sight..just look at the turmoil in the markets right now. In any case, its extremely difficult to find a good job initially unless one has a unique skill set (which your wife does not appear to possess) or good UK experience/qualifications. I think the best option would be to look for admin type jobs in the public sector (Local authorities & such like) & take it from there. Best of luck anyway..

£ 1500 pm is a pretty decent wage, btw. One would have to be on atleast 25k to take home that amount, after taxes. The average wage for admin starter jobs are in the region of 15-18k & you'd be lucky to be left with £800-1000 left after taxes, NI on that sort of salary..The streets of London are not paved with gold (with pounds, which is about to tank, maybe...)
