Leave to Remain - Tier 2 - Short Term Staff

Hi

I am looking for some advise in applying for my LTR, could you please help me with this ...

I am currently applying for my LTR, my current visa expires on 22.10.13, please could you advise if my understanding is correct on the following

1. There is no deadline to apply for the LTR, I could apply for the LTR anytime before my visa expires

2. Apply online >> make payment >> submit documents via post >> receive acknowledgement >> receive biometrics appointment >> complete biometrics at the suggested venue >>>>>>>>> post this the application is processed and I would receive my passport and biometrics card in 3- 4 weeks .. is this correct ?

3. Documents to be submitted
a. Passport
b. 2 photographs (as per requirements)
c. bank A/c details
Is this sufficient, are there any other documenst to be submited ?

4. Most likely post submitting applications/documents there would be a 2 week period where I would not have an approved visa.. what happens in sucha a scenario ? will the acknowledgement be sufficient ?
