Likelihood of employer getting CoS

Hi,

I work for a small strategy consultancy in London (15 people) on a Tier 1 PSW. I will need to be sponsored from 2013 onwards, and my employer has never sponsored any employees before.

My questions are this:
1. What are the exact processes my employer needs to go through, and what do they need to prove?
2. What are the possile reasons for them being rejected as a Tier 2 sponsor?

I'm not too worried about things on my end, because my salary is above the requirement, and I won't be subjected to the resident labour market test. I am however worried about whether my employer will get to be a licensed sponsor.

Will appreciate any advice.

I have been through the same situation as you.
I have helped my employer to apply for the tier-2 (general) sponsorship. They have received ti successfully.

This what we have done.

1. What are the exact processes my employer needs to go through, and what do they need to prove?

a.) Tier-2 (General) Online Application.
b.) Before your company applies this, make sure you have the following
original documents. They either need to be originals/certified copies
certified by notary or an authorised officer.
c.) The documents that we have sent are:
i.) Original VAT Certificate of Registeration.
ii.)Original PAYE Reference/Accounts Office reference number. This
will be the yellow book from HMRC.
iii.)Corporate bank statement (This has to be an original statement
from the bank for last month)
iv.)Employers' Liability insurance certificate for no less than 5
million pounds. (Original certifiicate)

Afetr filling the online application and the corresponding fee of £310 (paid online while filling an online application form).
We have sent all the doucments to the address specified.
We ahev received the A-rating with a limit of 1 Unrestircted COS in about 10 business days.

There are companies that will do this for you and your employer. I checked about a year ago, the cost was about 5K pounds with a 5-8 week timeline. One small business owner told me it is too tricky a process to go through by yourself, which may or may not be true. I guess it depends on how much time and resource the business is ready to put into it.
