Limited Leave To Remain

Post by IItronics » Sat Mar 15, 2014 11:26 am

Hello

I need advise on a current situation. I got a call from my previous employer saying immigration control are looking for me because im working here illegally. I was shocked and confused because I was granted Limited leave to remain in 2011 and it doesn't expire until September this year. As far as I know, i haven't broken any rule or done anything wrong for them to be looking for me. I rang home office and asked whats my current status in the country... he said I was granted limited leave from 2011 to Sept 2014... But then he said "in 2012, they sent me a letter in October to tell me that because me and my ex girlfriend aren't together anymore, i can no longer continue the remainder of my limited leave to remain... I've got 28 days to appeal against the decision". I didn't receive any letter and i told him this. he said because its been so long, there's a high possibility i wont be able to appeal against it. But if I didn't ring up yesterday about what my manager said, i wouldn't even know that i got sent a letter to appeal two years ago. so all this time ive working and doing courses, ive actually been doing it all illegally without knowing anything about it.

I dont know what to do... I have a 4 year old son with my ex partner... I am just two months away from starting to see my son again because the battle to have full contact took so long and theres a court case still going on to make this decision final in June.

Yes, your leave was curtailed due to your relationship no longer subsisting.

You need to look at applying for FLR(FP) if your child is British and you have contact.

Thanks for replying.

With the new strict law on immigration, how strong will it stand?

Ive been here for 14 years, went to school, college and worked here. my highest qualification is a national diploma in music technology and im applying for music management at a uni. do any of these things hold any ground? even under contribution bases and human rights law?

If you've been here 14 years that's one plus and another is having a British child.

Could not not have applied for settlement under long residence at any point?
